About

Shireen is an all rounder in the media business with experience and knowledge in music, journalism, marketing, branding and PR. Leaving university with a degree in Fashion Journalism, she realised in her 2nd year her passion lay in music journalism, and resisted in her last year during her Final Major Project by making a music magazine instead of the asked fashion magazine. Her first job leaving university was with Avit Clothing a streetwear brand heavily involved with the music scene as their marketing manager. She began going to music events and meeting artists and like-minded people. Landing her first music journalism job at Flavour Magazine was a dream come true, where she interviewed people from J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa and Talib Kweli  to Emeli Sande, Ghetts, Sway and many more. She has also reported for them on the red carpet at music awards such as the UMA’s, MOBO’s and the BET Awards in LA and events such as the Capital FM Summertime Ball, various album launches and music festivals. Leading on from there she became part of the SBTV team, as daily news blogger, uploading content daily for their site such as news stories, music videos and audio tracks, keeping her finger on the pulse of the ever changing, fast paced music industry. She also conducted interviews for them with artists such as Benny Banks and Lloyd. Shireen then became a presenter for Channel AKA, being a more behind the scenes kind of girl, she was dubious. Friends and colleagues willed her to give it and a go and the next day she was sitting with Mindless Behaviour in their hotel in Kensington interviewing them for the TV Channel. She interviewed Dot Rotten, Exo, Lucien Laviscount, English Frank, Scorcher, Joe Cole, and G Frsh for them before the company was sold. Her newest job as the UK rap columnist at MTV Wrap Up has shown her passion for the underground scene in the UK, with her trusted opinion for MTV, where she has also conducted interviews with Sincere, Devlin, Sneakbo and Nas and sees reviews for the BET Awards, Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap, Wireless Festival and more.

Shireen is now the head press officer of Ten Letter PR where she joined the company from when they launched over two years ago and has worked on campaigns for Krept & Konan’s ‘Young Kingz’, Jhene Aiko’s various UK campaigns, Omarion’s ‘Post To Be’ campaign and UK interviews, various Lord Of The Mics, Newham Generals, Heavytrackerz, Shystie, Toddla T and many many more.

A grime, dubstep and hip hop lover, who you will catch the majority of the time in black clothes with gold jewellery.

Music is my passion, I don’t just sit at home and write about it I love to go out to events and see artists perform live and also discover new talent for myself. People I would love to interview are Jay Z, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, The Weeknd and Common.
