Pixies Tracks Of The Week @TheBugzyMalone @StickyBloodUK @KaneUHF @CADELLOFFICIAL @TheRealKano

Kano – Endz

“Endz” is the latest cut to be heard from Kano’s forthcoming album Made In The Manor. The album is going to do some serious damage to the Grime scene when it drops with track “3 Wheels-Ups” already dropping and causing excitement. The lyrics match the nostalgic and reflective track perfectly with Kano talking about his career and the journey he’s been on. It shows a different side to the East London MC, who is pensive and analyses life in his hometown.

Cadell – The Death Of Me

Bow, East London is the home of Grime, and Cadell is one of Grime’s newest and freshest MCs to step up from the ends. He slows it down for “The Death Of Me”, getting deep and personal over a chiming, ghostly instrumental. He talks about his life and upbringing in Bow amongst other real life issues. Look out for more from this fiery artist.

Kane – Don’t Be Shy

Don’t Be Shy is the first single to be taken from 21-year old R&B singers Kane forthcoming album Designed For Me. It shows a mature and grown up Kane to previous material. After taking a hiatus to reflect on his music, he is back with a unique and fresh sound. “Don’t Be Shy” is sweet and soulful and showcases Kane’s stunning and striking vocals whilst allowing him to be raw in his authenticity.

Sticky Blood ft. Gaby Henshaw – Valium

Production duo Sticky Blood made their first appearance for 2016 with brand new track ‘Valium’ featuring the vocals of Gaby Henshaw. An energetic, anthemic, electronic cut is the sound behind it, and the cinematic visuals show Gaby in the hills searching for something, with it intensifying as the track builds up. Check it out below.

Bugzy Malone – Mosh Pit Gang

Manchester Grime MC Bugzy Malone returns in 2016 with “Mosh Pit Gang” to show he is not messing around. Produced by Rude Kid, Bugzy goes in with some braggadocious, intense and warning bars in this high energy packed track. This track is sure to be a hit at raves and festivals and you know it’s going to cause many moshpits when it drops, so be warned!

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @LadyLykez @CourtneyLDN @JammerBBK @AR15UK @JusRival

Lady Lykez – Chat To Your Man

Lady Lykez the cheeky female MC drops another fun and serious track at the same time, with a lyrical onslaught but with a positive message at it’s core. The dynamic Lykez is one of the only artists who can convey a strong message and still keep it light-hearted. She tells a story of different women all involved with the same man, she tells them they shouldn’t be fighting with each other but should be joining together. Lykez will be clashing Sox on Lord Of The Mics this month at the live show, 23rd of September at 02 Islington Academy so make sure you catch her down there!

Courtney Bennett – Motives

Courtney Bennett released the audio to her debut, self-penned single ‘Motives’ off her forthcoming EP ‘HE(art) Dealer’. The singer/songwriter/rapper has built her name in music circles and has fans in artists such as Jhene Aiko, M.I.A, Big Sean, Missy Elliot, Erykah Badu and Raekwon already. She found her Youtube presence growing after covering and interpreting classic and modern hits and now has a following with over 5 million hit and 60,000 subscribers! Listen to the futuristic synths with Courtney’s elegant tone on ‘Motives’.

Jammer – Royal Rumble

Boy Better Know’s Jammer has brought the old skool Grime vibe officially back with new track ‘Royal Rumble’, which captures what Grime was about in it’s origins with some of the scene’s most legendary MC’s; Jammer, D Double E, Footsie, Lethal B, Hype, Blacks, Jendort, Shorty, Bruza, Ears, Face and Royal. Produced by Mystry the MC’s go in hard with 13 straight back to back pure, hype, unadulterated bars. The track was created in celebration of 10 years of Lord Of The Mics and has definitely done it justice to the fullest.

AR15 Presents Can’t See Me Again ft Skepta, Bashy & Kano

The biggest rap album to ever be seen or heard out of the UK dropped last Friday 28th August on iTunes. AR15 Presents ‘Concrete Jungle’ sees over 50 of the cream of the crop of UK rappers from Grime and UK rap team up for 16 exclusive tracks and unseen collabs. ‘Can’t See Me Again’ the latest track off of the mixtape sees three Grime originators come together to exchange verses about their lives, the changes, letting go of the past and moving on for the better.

Rival – Victory Interlude

East London Grime MC Rival has dropped another winning track ahead of his debut album release.  He connects well with the down tempo, CRT produced track and talks about never giving up and how he is so close to making it. This won’t be on the album, but it’s definitely warming us up for it!

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @EdSheeran @Kreptplaydirty @konanplaydirty @JMEBBK @OfficialChip @Modestep

Ed Sheeran – Photograph

Ed Sheeran drops the video to “Photograph” off his most recent album X. Known for his different and creative videos, this one takes us through his past to present with clips from home videos of his life. The video matches the song perfectly, and also shows Ed playing instruments which is especially cool as we get to see him as a youth in his element.

Krept & Konan – Freak Of The Week ft. Jeremih

Krept & Konan are due to drop their album The Long Way Home in two months and this is the second track to be heard off of the new project after “Certified”. “Freak Of The Week” sees them collaborate with American singer Jeremiah over a DJ Mustard and ADP beat. The two South London rappers bring the heat in what will definitely be a summer banger.

JME ft. Giggs – Man Don’t Care

BBK’s JME released his brand new album Integrity which hit a very commendable no.12 on this weeks official album charts. The “Shut Your Mouth” MC released a video the same day as the album for the monster track “Man Don’t Care” featuring UK rap God Giggs and produced by well known grime producer Swift Beater. JME is as cheeky and witty as ever with his bars which he shows off impressively on this tune.

Chip – Feeling Myself ft. Kano & Wretch 32

Chip was given a challenge from KFC as part of their new campaign #PackedMoreIntoLunch where they are encouraging people to use an hour of their day in a productive way. He took new single “Feeling Myself” off his brand new EP Believe & Achieve – Episode 1 to shoot, edit and put out this music video in an hour and this was the result.

Modestep – Machines

Last but not least, Modestep the electronic/rock group two weeks before their album is released have dropped the video to “Machines” with zombie eyes and a very dark video to match the track. Their album London Road features Big Narstie, Flowdan, Frisco, Lay-Z, Discarda and production from the likes of Funtcase and Trolley Snatcha.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @OfficialChip @NewhamGenerals @CadellOfficial @IsaiahDreads @Scrufizzer @Saskilla @DJCameo

All my tracks seem to be Grime ones this week, and I can assure you they are all worthy to be included. From the cheeky ‘Feeling Myself’ to war track ‘Hotline’ and feel good one ‘Foolish’ this is why I can say safely say all Grime isn’t the same, so don’t put it in a box again!

Chip ft Kano & Wretch 32– Feeling Myself

I have to start with this one ‘Feeling Myself’ from Chip as it’s a proper feel good, funky track that is a production you would associate more with a hip hop tune than a Grime one, but it sure sounds good. It features quick witted, sizzling and cheeky bars from Kano and Wretch 32 as the three show different can be good. This will be on Chip’s forthcoming EP ‘Believe & Achieve – Episode 1’ out on May 4th.

Newham Generals – Soundboi Killa

The Newham Generals have done it again with this future classic ‘Soundboi Killa’ produced by the bass don Toddla T. When you hear these three names you know it can only mean one thing…it’s Grime, with reggae influences, plenty of bass with computer game sounds. The best duo in Grime kill it and control the mic like the dons they are. Their EP ‘N To The Gs’ will be out very soon too!

Cadell – Hotline

Woahhhhh so it’s sending season, and Cadell really caught my attention with this one I had to add it as one of my tracks of the week. The East London MC goes in for a whole host of MC’s such as Stormzy, Maxsta, Jammer, Elf Kid, Stelf, Mez and more in this one shot taken video called ‘Hotline’. Mez has sent a reply which I’ve put the video to called ‘#64 Bars Of Air Pie’.

Isaiah Dreads ft C4 – Foolish

Let’s take it back now to some more bouncy, happier vibes with the 17-year old Grime MC from Dorset Isaiah Dreads. We heard the track on Soundcloud which seems to have gained co-signs from DJ’s Target, Cameo, Phil Taggart, Huw Stevens, Mistajam and more who have all pressed play on it. Produced by the go-to producer Preditah and featuring his brother C4, this is a more uplifting, melodic track showing off Isaiah’s fast paced flow.

Gunplay ft Rick Ross & Scrufizzer, Saskilla and Maxsta – Aiight

Last but certainly not least, a US to UK remix here with Gunplay ft Rick Ross’ track ‘Aiight’ being given a Grime remix with three very hard lyricists Scrufizzer, Saskilla and Maxsta all going in over the remix which Darq E Freaker provided for them. S/O DJ Cameo for putting this one together, I look forward to seeing more of this from them.

Kano (@TheRealKano) ‘Home Sweet Home’ album is 10 Years Old This Year: I Name My Top Tracks

2015 (Summer) is the year that marks the 10th anniversary of Kano’s debut album ‘Home Sweet Home’, one of the most influential albums in the UK Grime scene. I have decided to dedicate a blog to this album and my favourite tracks from the album and why…lets go back in time and remember one of the greatest albums in Grime. It was so hard to pick my top tracks but I had to be strict with myself and get it down to 7!

Big up Kano one of the best MC’s to touch the mic and don’t forget you can catch him at Fabric on January 17th for the 5th Butterz anniversary.

P’s & Q’s

The first one has to be P’s & Q’s which is still on an old skool mixed CD in my car and whenever it gets played is turned up loud. This is just a classic, catchy one that I think most people know, Grime fan or not.

Nite Nite

Another classic one. When Kano and The Streets hooked up for ‘Nite Nite’ the outcome was pretty magical. This one got the girls wanting to play the girl in the video and hooked on Kano’s deeper side and the boys looking for that chick.

Ghetto Kid

A grimy banger with Kano just being the raw, real Kano, there was no white wash to this song and this is simply why it’s in my top 5. Plus it features Ghetts on it.

Mic Check

‘Mic Check’ is a war riddim apart from the fact he’s not sending for anyone in particular, he is just stating that no one can fuck with him and his crew.

Reload It

Sick flow and lyrics on this tune “I get a reload purely for the flow”, calling out some MC’s such as Tinchy and Hyper when on the hook when he says they get no reloads. This tune is what the essence of Grime is on one track.

Sometimes

This shows the reflective and down to earth Kane Robinson. The man behind the music and the man who questioned why it was him that made it.. ..Well Kano I’m sure there’s a few of us that can answer that!

 Nobody Don’t Dance No More

This tune hit the raves and was basically telling everyone to stop being stoosh standing on the edge of the dancefloors and just get up and have a good time! It definitely did as the rhythm got everyone moving and still does to this day when it comes on.

Kano (@TheRealKano) ft JME (@JmeBBK) – Flow Of The Year [Audio]

You automatically know a tune is going to be something special when you get two of Grime’s greats on it together. The legend that is Kano and BBK’s JME join together to bring us Flow Of The Year. Check the B-Side for the Dirty Die too from Kano.

Kano (@TheRealKano) – The King’s Speech feat. Ghetts (@JCLARKE_GHETTS) [Audio]

Two of grime’s greatest Kano and Ghetts join forces for this The Kings Speech. Both East London MC’s lyrically attack the track and although they don’t need too, prove their status of top boys.

MTV The Wrap Up: UK Rap Rundown [News]

Last week The Wrap Up went to support the MTV Brand New nominees party at the Drury Club in London. Wretch 32 performed on the night with hits ‘Don’t Go’, ‘Blackout’ and more really getting the crowd really in the mood to party…

Kano
is back and it’s good to hear new music from the talented MC after we’ve seen him acting in the second series of Top Boy. ‘Puppets and Strings’ looks at his career over the years, music industry and more, it’s clear he had a lot he wanted to tell people and get off his chest. The 6-minute track has a slow start but picks up and the last verse really shows off Kano’s lyrical skills.

Peak is someone who in the last part of this year has been keeping his name buzzing releasing freestyles, clever move as the ‘Str88 Ham’ mixtape will be out January from him, Syikes, FA andKerz. He dropped a Rated freestyle for GRM Daily last week and really impressed with his bars getting people ready for what’s to come.

Fem Fel recently dropped an EP ‘Left Of Centre’ after being quiet for a little while. The South London rapper takes it down a dubby route on the production that is quite dark for track ‘Massive’ with his flow riding the beat. The visuals are quite trippy and match the track near perfect.

Logic
released the video to ‘More True Talk’ produced by Last Resort off the album of the same name. The conscious rapper talks us through a number of issues on this track and shows off different flows on this truthful track. If you like hearing hip-hop that stands for something with thoughtful bars check this out.

Skore Beezy released a video covering Wretch 32’s ‘Forgiveness’ in memory of Veli a friend and talented rapper who sadly passed away, and to mark the release of his mixtape ‘Beezy In Da Trap’. We hear verses from both Skore Beezy and Veli both are hugely talented rappers and Skore is one to watch out for in 2014, I can predict big things for him, download the mixtape now and you’ll understand why I say this.

Signing out x

Ghetts – Party Animal ft. Kano & MYKL [Music Video]

Ghetts releases the video to Party Animal featuring Kano and MYKL which sees him starting off in a bar just him and grandad, then sees Kano and lots of girls joining him. This track is one for the radio and will draw in new fans for Ghetts but may see his old ones not take to it.
