The Sounds Of UK Rap @Frankofraize @Blademusic @MicRighteous @realmostack @KojeyRadical

Franko Fraize – ‘Tell Me A Word’

Fresh from his Maida Vale session for Radio 1, Franko Fraize returned with the excellent ‘Tell Me A Word.’ It was first played by Huw Stephens, but it now comes with a video for us all to enjoy.

‘Tell Me A Word’ is the perfect example of his down-to-earth approach as he discusses the stresses of life, not talking trash about other people, and loads more. The video takes us through a journey from outside a kebab shop, down the high street, and past a packed bar. It’s witty and it’s real.

Blade Brown – ‘Plug Talk’

Blade Brown doesn’t play around when it comes to his videos and for his new one – ‘Plug Talk’ – he heads out to the Nevada desert and downtown LA.

Blade spits some hard, street bars where he states, “these n****s better listen when the plug talks, bricks on bricks on bricks man that’s a plugs thought, and now these little n****s they can’t walk with me, you need like 50,000 just to talk to me.” In the video we see Blade living an expensive lifestyle out in the states, driving a Mustang and living in a mansion.

Mic Righteous – ‘I Turn Up’

Mic Righteous is hitting us hard with some new visuals from his Dreamlandalbum which is out now and popping on the iTunes chart.

Mic’s energy on this track is 100, and he adds a comical value to the video too, making it an interesting watch. Have a read through his chorus lyrics: “What is it then? I’m down for whatever login and send, you turn up in the club with a drink, I turn up with a kosh and a pen, fuck you mean. Come to my manor with gun chatter, then get hit in the head with a buss hammer.”

Kojey Radical ft. PW- ‘Gallons’

Kojey Radical is a contemporary artist and poet who releases pieces of work that will leave you thinking. His new one – ‘Gallons’ – does just that too; it’s heartfelt and compelling and tells a story of race, class, and struggle.

The visuals are striking, showing Kojey adorned in black against the backdrop of a futuristic version of London in a dystopian world. He says of the track, “‘Gallons’ is a uniting of class, it’s a celebration of struggle. The conversation doesn’t die when you kill us. Seeds of positivity will ensure that the beauty in all our differences will come together and grow for future generations.”

Mostack feat. Krept, Konan & J Hus – ‘Liar Liar’ Remix

Mostack has been steadily on the rise this year, coming out with anthem after anthem. His ‘Liar Liar’ track (released in September) is nearing 5 million hits, but has now been given an official remix by Krept, Konan and J Hus. It’s as mad as you’d expect, with the three artists bringing their hardest bars. It bangs even harder than the original.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @Dapzonthemap @JusRival @thisisangel @SIRSPYRO @JorjaSmith

Dapz On The Map – Oh My Days

West Bromwich’s Dapz On The Map is killing it with his latest track releases such as ‘Murdah’ and ‘I Swear,’ showing his adaptability as an artist. We heard the Thomas Mellor produced track earlier this year as the audio was released, and now we get the visuals to match, along with an extra verse added to freshen things up.

Rival – Bright Star

Rival released his album ‘Portrait Of The Underclass’ last week on iTunes and also dropped a track off of there to give his fans a taster. We already heard the intro which was sonically stunning and featured a live band. Now you can listen to ‘Bright Star’ featuring Cameron Bloomfield which sees Rival on his A Game with tough lyrics, sharp flows and a passionate delivery.

Angel – Tongue Song

West London based singer Angel puts a spin on Sisqo’s classic ‘Thong Song’ for new cut ‘Tongue Song.’ This is one sexy song you will expect to be played in the clubs. Angel says, “Just came out the studio with this vibe the other night and needed to put this out straight away.”

Sir Spyro – Side By Side Remix ft. YGG

Taking on the classic original, Grime crew YGG come on board to spit some bars over Sir Spyro’s track ‘Side By Side.’ Asked by Amy Becker to remix the track for a new forthcoming vinyl EP called ‘RMX,’ it’s also been gifted with some pretty cold black and white visuals. This is set to gooooo off in a rave and will definitely be getting reloaded.

Jorja Smith – Where Did I Go

Jorja Smith has quickly built a name for herself, with all of her releases being strong. Her new one as ever is soulful and slick. Produced by Cadenza, he slows the production down, but still keeps the bass and dance element there. Her daring songwriting skills are present again and this is another element that makes her special.

Dave & AJ Tracey – Thiago Silva

Dave & AJ Tracey are two of the best up and coming, young MC’s and joining forces together makes for one hot track. For the visuals they take it from Paris where footballer Thiago Silver plays for, to Ladbroke Grove where AJ Tracey’s from, to Streatham – Dave’s hometown. This see’s the two show of their lyrical skills as they go back to back on a Prince Rapid and 169 production.

Snowy – Fucked Up

Nottingham MC Snowy drops the visuals to a track off of his recently released ‘Knots’ EP. ‘Fucked Up’ talks through the trials and tribulations of his life over a melancholy, dark beat produced by Riddla. The visuals, beat and lyrics match each other perfectly and you can see it’s been well thought out, check it out below.

Raheem Bakare – Forever You

Raheem Bakare the soulful UK singer, takes us on a journey around London and Amsterdam for his new video for ‘Forever You.’ Raheem pays homage to the golden days of R&B, but brings a fresh innovative twist. He is one of the UK’s freshest, rawest and honest talents that is due to be huge. Let Raheem take you on a journey of a broken man, whose fate changes.

Coco ft. AJ Tracey & Nadia Rose – Big N Serious Remix

Three hot Grime MC’s link up for Coco’s ‘Big N Serious’ remix and now we have been gifted the visuals to match. With their 3 different styles and flows, they still all manage to murk the track whilst complementing each other. With Toddla T on production, this one is going to be a future classic riddim for sure.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @Sneakbo @theupbeats @Skepta @Meridian_Dan @WileyUpdates

Sneakbo & Kranium – Lifestyle Remix

South London rapper Sneakbo dropped his mixtape Jetski Wave 2 in February, which is one of the hottest of the year thus far and hosted by DJ Whoo Kid. This week we got the official video to the “Lifestyle remix” track off it which is my personal favourite off the tape where he talks about his life, his journey and his hopes, dream and ambitions.

Caribou – Back Home (The Upbeats Bootleg) (feat Voices)

New Zealand producer duo The Upbeats have taken Caribou’s rather relaxed tune “Back Home” and given it a sumptuous drum & bass remix with synths plus vocals from Voices, whilst still leaving the original coatings remaining the same. The build up to the drop is delightful, elevating to a sub bass that gradually comes in. The producers have also added an extra treat; the track is available for a free download by clicking here

Skepta – Shutdown (Idris Elba Remix)

You will recognise the name Idris Elba more from the acting world more than music, from an array of hit TV drama’s including The Wire and Luther along with films such as Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and more being nominated for Grammy Awards too. He is a DJ though, under the moniker DJ Big Driis and has released tracks and has production credits to his name, so it’s no surprise really when he was asked to hook up with Skepta for a remix of Shutdown. Listen below and appreciate his bars as he goes in hard.

Meridian Dan – The Bits

Meridian Dan from one of Grime’s most well known crews, Bloodline has dropped a single titled “The Bits”. He signed to label PMR after a successful 2014 which included his single “German Whip” reaching the top 20 single charts. “The Bits” is produced by Tow Inch Punch and we can expect it to be on his forthcoming debut album ‘I Am London due later in the year.

Wiley – Wickedest MC Alive

As Wiley launches a new label Chasing The Art, he celebrates this by promising to drop a track per week for eight weeks which will be a project  titled #8. Kicking this off he started with “Wickedest MC Alive” which is self-produced and premiered by Annie Mac on the radio. Released on Sunday 7 June, with the follow up single “25 MC’s” dropping the following Sunday on “June 14th. This track resonates with his early 2000 material giving it a nostalgic feel.

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week @DizzeeRascal @OfficialGiggs @SectionBoyz1 @SwayUK @Sneakbo @DevlinOfficial @Skepta

Dizzee Rascal ft Giggs – Nutcrakerz

I first heard this track on Charlie Sloth’s show last month and instantly thought what a banger! Dizzee Rascal teams up with UK raps finest Giggs for this Heavytrackerz produced single sampling the famous Tchaikovsky classical ballet song from the Nutcracker. Heavytrackerz have done a fantastic job turning it into a heavy grimey track. Giggs and Dizzee of course bring us a lyrical madness that these two flow masters are accomplished in, talking about the past.

AR15 Presents Section Boyz – Trapping Aint Dead

Alwayz Recording have released the news of their forthcoming epic mixtape by of dropping the first track from there from Section Boyz titled’ Trapping Ain’t Dead’ produced by Nana Rouges. Section Boyz are one of the most talked about, up and coming crews right now and kick off the ‘Concrete Jungle’ mixtape with this catchy track. The mixtape will feature UK rappers such as Skepta, Wretch 32, Ratlin, Sneakbo, Ghetts, Youngs Teflons, Stormzy, Tempa Tand more.

Sway – Stream It

Sway has been on a hiatus for a little while touring with Example and developing the careers of others such as Tigger Da Author. Now he is back with a brand new album to be released in June. ‘Stream It’ is the first single to be heard from the album featuring Afrobeats star Mista Silva; the follow up to ‘Upload’ and ‘Download’, showing Sway at his lyrical best and looking at the effect of instant music.

Sneakbo ft Grizzy, S-Wavey & M Darg– Look Like You

My favourite mixtape of the moment is Sneakbo’s ‘Jetski Wave 2’ and ‘Look Like You’ ft Grizzy, S-Wavey and M Darg is the new video Bo has released from there. This man literally does not stop working and this hard, street track shows Sneakbo at his finest.

Devlin ft Skepta – 50 Grand

Devlin is back after a hiatus as well from the music scene and comes back with a bang. With Skepta featuring on brand new single ’50 Grand’ these make a firing combination. Both Grime dons’ together can only mean something explosive. Devlin has also announced his fourth studio album due later in 2015. Riches is the theme, I’m going to say no more, just get listening.

.@Ratlin, @SkoreGoodfellaz, @Shak_Corleone & @MattMilla45 – Ain’t On Nuttin (G-Mix) [Music Video]

I know what you’re probably all thinking, another Ain’t On Nuttin remix, originally the track from Yungen ft Sneakbo on his Project Black & Red. This remix has to be the hardest remix I’ve heard with Ratlin, Skore Beezy, Shak Corelone & Matt Milla all giving a verse to this street anthem making it more grittier than before. Everyone went innnnn on this and it’s very difficult for me to say whose verse was the best, but personally (I’ll say it again personally) Skore Beezy killed it for me, although they all went in hard…

January 9, 2015

Martel B – Badda Dan Dem Remix ft @MrBigzOfficial, @BigFris & @Young_Spray [Music Video]

East London’s Martel B enlists some heavyweight rappers for his afrobeats track Badda Den Bad remix making it an even badder tune than before. Listen to Bigz, BBK’s Frisco and Young Spray bring their individual elements to it mixing it up for a wicked remix.

January 7, 2015

Krept (@KreptPlayDirty) – Ain’t On Nuttin Remix [Audio]

Krept covers Yungen ft Sneakbo‘s Ain’t On Nuttin, showcasing his lyrical ability and proving why he is one of the top MC’s in the country.

October 23, 2014

High Contrast (@HighContrast) – California Love (2 Pac Remix) [Audio]

Welsh D&B producer High Contrast has put his spin on the legendary record that is 2 Pac‘s California Love. I don’t think a lot of people should be doing this to such classics and it does hurt me sometimes to hear when people do, but this really isn’t bad. Check it out below and see what you think.

Ed Sheeran (@EdSheeran) – Don’t (Remix ft. Rick Ross) [Audio]

Rick Ross handles the remix for Ed Sheeran‘s track Don’t which sees the Maybach Music rapper come in at the beginning of the track with a verse, spitting over the acoustic driven track which is very different to his normal style. Not sure about this one…
