Stefflon Don – Real Ting Remix ft. Giggs

Stefflon Don reincarnates her ‘Real Ting’ track released last November by releasing a remix and getting UK Rap don Giggs to jump on the track to add extra flavour to the track. Steff adds an extra verse herself too, giving the track a burst of freshness. Plus there is a wicked video self-directed by Steff herself to go with it.

Danny Dorito x Stogey – Lyrical Skengs

E.B Records, a new independent record label has made a great start to the year with their second release dropping this week, only 3 weeks into the year. ‘Lyrical Skengs’ comes from Nottingham artist Danny Dorito and Eastbourne’s Stogey produced by label mates Audio Slugs for a wicked Grime track full of energy and organic flows and bars.

Ghetts ft Shakka – You Know My Ting

Grime legend Ghetts has created another hit track ‘You Know My Ting’ which will be going off in the clubs. Shakka lends his hand to the chorus adding a different element to the track singing about women. Whilst Ghetts spits bout peng tings, swag and more! What a banger..

New Gen – Money Haffi Mek (ft Stefflon Don & Abra Cadabra)

It’s a New Gen thing next. ‘Money Haffi Mek’ has two of the UK’s hottest and newest rappers on the track Stefflon Don and Abra Cadabra who spit hard bars throughout the track over a trap-led beat. It’s catchy, it’s about making money and it’s going to be an underground banger straight away. The New Gen album is out today as well!

Y.SJ (67) – Loose Screw

67’s Y.SJ drops a more laid-back, slower track to what we’re normally used to from the 67 crew, and it works well. The beat produced by Carns Hill allows the rapper to show off his lyrical skills on his solo debut track. This will be the 3rd song off the forthcoming mixtape #KylieKendall.

Youngs Teflon (@YoungsTeflon) Live At Barfly Camden [Review]

Youngs Teflon held his first headline show on Monday (September 1) at Barfly in Camden where he performed tracks from his recently released mixtape ‘The Renaissance’ with a live band. The Wrap Up’s Shireen Fenner headed down there to watch Tefs and all of his special guests for this live night featuring some of the best UK rap had to offer.

Teflon hit the stage accompanied by just Docta Cosmic on the decks, with his special guests joining him afterwards. Released in March, ‘The Renaissance’ went to No.1 in the iTunes hip-hop chart and No.22 in the overall national album charts, proving the strength of homegrown music in the UK.

Tefs performed the ‘My Pattern Intro’ from the mixtape and a track called ‘Never Failed School’ produced by Carns Hill which was a kind of middle finger to his school and teachers who thought he would fail; we discovered that ultimately he had done very well and received 2 A*’s for his English GCSEs. ‘Survivor’s Story’ and ‘Django’ got really good crowd reaction and it seemed everyone in the crowd were true supporters, knowing every lyric of every song. One thing was clear, Youngs Teflon was not disappointing any of his fans tonight.

One of the highlights for a lot of people was seeing Blade Brown and Corleone join Youngs Teflon for their collaborative track ‘Trap God’ which got everyone buzzing and Donae’o getting up on stage for their recent track ‘Oi Mate’ which set the internet alight – most people knew these two tracks word for word. Bonkaz, Stormzy and Swift also performed their cover of Krept & Konan’s ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ with the crowd getting more and more energetic with Stormzy also performing his HeavyTrackerz – produced song ‘Not That Deep’.

I loved how Docta Cosmic started mixing grime beats such as Rebound X’s ‘Rhythm N Gash’ into some of the tracks with Youngs Teflon and a lot of his guests, including Section Boyz on the stage in the middle of the show and them all spitting together, and then completely switching it over to grime. This was one of the most creative shows musically I’ve been to in a while and I hope to see more shows like this in the future.

MTV The Wrap Up: UK Rap Rundown [News]

There were quite a few video and track releases last week. Let’s start with Political Peak, whose buzz has been massive already this year. ‘Get Lean’ is his latest video and the visuals are really slick, which sees Peak walking round South London rapping. This is only the beginning for the young rapper and shows off his ability…

People’s Army representative Logic asks a lot of questions in ‘Question Everything’, a song that made me re-evaluate a lot of things in life that we just accept as the truth. It’s a very deep track from the conscious rapper who makes us realise we are not as smart as we think sometimes.

MashTown’s Margs compares himself to football player ‘Rooney’ in his new track, showing off some of his skills on the pitch in the video too. It’s a clever track which sees him using skillful lyricism.

Carns Hill, one of UK rap’s finest producers, brought out the second installment to ‘OT’ – ‘OT2’. He released the video to the intro which sees Blade BrownYoungs Teflon and Mental K spitting some real life street bars in this hustler’s anthem. You can get the 18 track mixtape ‘OT2’ from iTunes now.

Rapper Fuze had some fantastic news last week after his track ‘Too Much Swagger’ dropped featuring Sneakbo, which is an extremely catchy track that would fit perfectly in a club. He then signed to Alwayz Recordings, the independent label responsible for some of the UK’s biggest talents such as Wretch 32 and Chip. I can guarantee there will be much more to expect from this rising rapper.

Rap duo Krept & Konan released with the video to their track ‘Numb (I Can’t Feel My Face)’ produced by Rymez (‘Heatwave’). This is definitely going to do well as a summer club anthem.

Ratlin’s ‘Crown Me’ mixtape was one that got a lot of people talking. ‘Back On My Bulls**t’ is one of the strongest tracks on the tape and Ratlin released the video featuring a hook from singer Vee.

Mic Righteous gave an outstanding and passionate performance on SB.TV’s new #3rdDegree series, and Mic is the first one on there. The Margate rapper stuns with this performance, but it’s no surprise as he always does.

S.A.S Mega and Mayhem along with two thirds of EurogangBigz and Skrilla Kid Villain took to Tim Westwood’s crib and absolutely killed the freestyle session. I think this is one of the best I have seen this year…
