Pixies Tracks Of The Week @MerkyACE @Izziegibbs @Rejjiesnow @Novelist @Meridian_Dan

Merky Ace – Cuss Match

A new one from the Dirtee Stank camp comes “Cuss Match” from South London spitter Merky Ace. Ahead of his Peak Levels EP which drops on July 17, he brings the war on a devilish beat produced by one half of Newham Generals, Footsie. The video was directed by Dizzee Rascal himself and also sees him make a cameo appearance, along with Footsie in the ghostly and eerie setting.

Izzie Gibbs – Swear Down

Izzie Gibbs is gearing up to release his EP Justsu and shows us what’s to come with his first track to be heard from it “Swear Down”. He takes it back to the old school Grime days with the beat, and proves why he is one to watch with his sharp and clever wordplay and lively delivery.

Rejjie Snow – All Around The World

Rejjie Snow is known for his unique take on hip-hop and has been rising steadily since the release of his debut EP Rejovich. His new track “All Around The World” sees Johnny Deep’s 16-year old daughter Lily-Rose play a smitten fan who Rejjie picks out from the crowd. Production comes from Chance The Rapper affiliate Cam O’bi along with a poignant melody.

Novelist – War

Novelist is one of grime’s most powerful, up and coming MCs and has been working non-stop. He uses the Jon E Cash classic riddim “War” to deliver 3 and half minutes of intense and menacing bars. He definitely doesn’t hold back on the snarling instrumental where he is cheeky and threatening all at the same time.

Meridian Dan – In The Street

Bloodline member Meridian Dan drops a brand new, bass heavy track ‘In The Street’ which premiered on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @Sneakbo @theupbeats @Skepta @Meridian_Dan @WileyUpdates

Sneakbo & Kranium – Lifestyle Remix

South London rapper Sneakbo dropped his mixtape Jetski Wave 2 in February, which is one of the hottest of the year thus far and hosted by DJ Whoo Kid. This week we got the official video to the “Lifestyle remix” track off it which is my personal favourite off the tape where he talks about his life, his journey and his hopes, dream and ambitions.

Caribou – Back Home (The Upbeats Bootleg) (feat Voices)

New Zealand producer duo The Upbeats have taken Caribou’s rather relaxed tune “Back Home” and given it a sumptuous drum & bass remix with synths plus vocals from Voices, whilst still leaving the original coatings remaining the same. The build up to the drop is delightful, elevating to a sub bass that gradually comes in. The producers have also added an extra treat; the track is available for a free download by clicking here

Skepta – Shutdown (Idris Elba Remix)

You will recognise the name Idris Elba more from the acting world more than music, from an array of hit TV drama’s including The Wire and Luther along with films such as Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and more being nominated for Grammy Awards too. He is a DJ though, under the moniker DJ Big Driis and has released tracks and has production credits to his name, so it’s no surprise really when he was asked to hook up with Skepta for a remix of Shutdown. Listen below and appreciate his bars as he goes in hard.

Meridian Dan – The Bits

Meridian Dan from one of Grime’s most well known crews, Bloodline has dropped a single titled “The Bits”. He signed to label PMR after a successful 2014 which included his single “German Whip” reaching the top 20 single charts. “The Bits” is produced by Tow Inch Punch and we can expect it to be on his forthcoming debut album ‘I Am London due later in the year.

Wiley – Wickedest MC Alive

As Wiley launches a new label Chasing The Art, he celebrates this by promising to drop a track per week for eight weeks which will be a project  titled #8. Kicking this off he started with “Wickedest MC Alive” which is self-produced and premiered by Annie Mac on the radio. Released on Sunday 7 June, with the follow up single “25 MC’s” dropping the following Sunday on “June 14th. This track resonates with his early 2000 material giving it a nostalgic feel.

This tune is a Grime fan’s dream. Bloodline’s Meridian Dan is joined by fellow member President T and Grime’s favourite Wiley for So Much Cash, with the title speaking for itself. All three MC’s go in hard, but who is your favourite?

Pusha T (@Pusha_T) (@Meridian_Dan) At Koko Camden [Review]

Pusha T was in London last night where he played at Koko in Camden to a sold out show, proving his status in the UK as one of raps current kings. The rapper who a lot of people know from Clipse, and where he will always be remembered, put on a an energetic and passionate performance last night showcasing his now King Push status as a solo artist…

Opening up for the Broxn born, Virginia based rapper was Bloodline’s Meridian Dan who has shot to fame recently when his track ‘German Whip’ blew up and he well deservingly signed with EGA and PMR. The North London rapper started his set with new track ‘I’m From A Place’, then leading into an unheard new track which could potentially be his next single ‘One, Two Drinks’. He then put his hit track ‘German Whip’ in the middle that really livened the crowd up ending on freestyle over S-X’s ‘Woo Riddim’. Great to Meridian Dan doing so well and opening up for someone like Push at Koko

King Push opened his set with a track off his 2013 album ‘My Name Is My Name’. It was only right that he started off with ‘King Push’, which was produced by his label boss over at GOOD Music Kanye West.

‘Millions’ a well-known track and collaboration with Rick Ross was of course added to the set list. Two Kanye West collaborative tracks that I heard last night was ‘Runaway’ and ‘New God Flow’ two tracks with a couple of years between them, bringing some older and newer material together.

The collaborative track ‘Mercy’ was performed and it was a bit of a shame not to have seen GOOD music artist Big Sean not come out as a surprise guest. He could have also been helped Push out when he did ‘I Don’t Like’ another big hit, it would have added something fresh.

He then went back to perform one of his newer tracks and a popular one again ‘Sweet Serenade’ featuring Chris Brown and produced by Swizz Beatz and Kanye West a thoughtful track looking at the rap game. He unofficially ended on another one off his debut album ‘Numbers On The Board’ with a percussion led bet co-produced again by Kanye. As King Push left the stage, the crowd demanded an encore and he delivered it to them coming back on stage to perform ’40 Acres’ ft. The Dream.

I give the show a 4.5 out of 5 for his energy and ability to keep the crowd happy and deliver his tracks like he has never performed them before with a new lease of life. You can see Pusha’s love for what he does on stage and he bounces around on the stage with such liveliness and this rubbed off on the crowd becoming infectious.

Pusha T is working on a new album  ‘King Push’ which will see production from Pharrell who along with Chad  (The Neptune’s) produced the first Clipse album ‘Lord Willin’ . Word is Timberland is also working on the album with him too. I look forward to that when it drops.
