Bloodline representative Milli Major is back with an exciting new video “Merking” with a feature from Doctor. Doctor switches things up bringing a Dancehall vibe to the hook and immediately launches into a verse too.

Ratlin ft. Ayo Beatz – Never Doubt

Ratlin is back on his A-game with this brand new one “Never Doubt”. He brings in Ayo Beatz for the auto-tuned hook. This one sees Ratlin reaching for the sky for this inspiring track where he talks money, power and respect. We should be seeing a lot more from the West London rapper who has been a little quiet lately.

Chase & Status have brought us some of the biggest anthems and after their latest London Bars series, with one of their tracks ft. Novelist “Bigger Man Sound”, they have joined forces again with him for brand new one “NRG”. Potter Payper ft. Maverick Sabre – Normal

Potter Payper is kicking off the start of 2016 with some great new music and begins with the impressive video for “Normal” featuring the vocals of the soulful Maverick Sabre. The rapper delves into real life issues faced by many, the problems people go through and how it’s normal life for them. It’s a reality check which will relate to people in some way. You’ll be able to get this track on his forthcoming EP One Time, but you’ll have to wait until March!

Bonkaz – And Dat (Feat. Stormzy)

For some time now Bonkaz has been teasing fans with snippets for his new mixtape, Mixtape of the Year and the most popular was his and Stormzy’s collab on “And Dat”. This weekend we finally received the mixtape with the full version of “And Dat” that has the two MCs going back to back on their Croydon memories. Bonkaz’s new tape has the South London MC displaying His varying rhyming ability and confirming 2016 will be a landmark year for the MC.

Novelist – Break In Your House

Novelist is known for dropping tracks regularly on his Soundcloud and over the weekend we got another one. “Break In Your House” is a self-produced track from the young future star from Lewisham, who freestyles with defiance and boldness that solidifies the fact he is not an MC to be messed with. Word is out that Nov will be dropping his debut album this year too, so we have that to look forward too.

Mez – Hunt For The Pumps

Mez is putting Nottingham on the Grime map and is a serious one to watch this year. His flow, energy and bars bring a real freshness to his music, which is why he is rising fast and has the support of many in the game. “Hunt For The Pumps” showcases Mez’s humorous and witty side on a Kidda Beat production. It’s a catchy track that will get you bouncing.

Sneakbo and Stefflon Don – Work

Sneakbo and Stefflon Don wasted no time recording and releasing a remix to Drake & Rhianna’s new track “Work” the day after it was released. Sneakbo and Stefflon Don’s wavy bars fit the track perfectly like it was made for them, with the pair also sounding wicked together. We hope to see more collaborations with them soon.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @MerkyACE @Izziegibbs @Rejjiesnow @Novelist @Meridian_Dan

Merky Ace – Cuss Match

A new one from the Dirtee Stank camp comes “Cuss Match” from South London spitter Merky Ace. Ahead of his Peak Levels EP which drops on July 17, he brings the war on a devilish beat produced by one half of Newham Generals, Footsie. The video was directed by Dizzee Rascal himself and also sees him make a cameo appearance, along with Footsie in the ghostly and eerie setting.

Izzie Gibbs – Swear Down

Izzie Gibbs is gearing up to release his EP Justsu and shows us what’s to come with his first track to be heard from it “Swear Down”. He takes it back to the old school Grime days with the beat, and proves why he is one to watch with his sharp and clever wordplay and lively delivery.

Rejjie Snow – All Around The World

Rejjie Snow is known for his unique take on hip-hop and has been rising steadily since the release of his debut EP Rejovich. His new track “All Around The World” sees Johnny Deep’s 16-year old daughter Lily-Rose play a smitten fan who Rejjie picks out from the crowd. Production comes from Chance The Rapper affiliate Cam O’bi along with a poignant melody.

Novelist – War

Novelist is one of grime’s most powerful, up and coming MCs and has been working non-stop. He uses the Jon E Cash classic riddim “War” to deliver 3 and half minutes of intense and menacing bars. He definitely doesn’t hold back on the snarling instrumental where he is cheeky and threatening all at the same time.

Meridian Dan – In The Street

Bloodline member Meridian Dan drops a brand new, bass heavy track ‘In The Street’ which premiered on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @cashtasticmusic @Novelist @Kwabs @ClubsAndSpades1 @djzinc

Cashtastic – Reminder Flow

It’s great to hear new music from Cashtastic since he’s been living in Jamaica. He is sending a clear reminder that he is still dedicated to music. Toxic flew out to the Caribbean island to shoot the brand new video with Cashtastic in Spanish Town. His aggressive delivery shows his hunger and passion and that he isn’t going anywhere.

Novelist – Ignorant And Wot

South London MC Novelist is the future of Grime and this week dropped a new track “Ignorant And Wot”. The 18-year-old is full of potential and is turning heads everywhere with his flawless flow and realness in his lyrics that people can relate to. With many saying the song reminds them of Dizzee during his Boy in da Corner days. The dark beat is produced by Novelist himself and is going to be a classic track in years to come with , with him spitting about his block and getting some thoughts off his chest.

Kwabs – Fight For Love

Kwabs is one of our favourite singers out of the UK, an artist with such a refreshing sound and unique voice that’s full of power and soul commanding people to listen. This emotional ballad reminds us of an 80s track with a pop-sounding electronic production. The track is taken from his forthcoming debut album Love + War out on September 11th. This is definitely going on my playlist.

Clubs & Spades ft Tom Prior – Clearer Coast

Sheffield hip hop collective Clubs & Spades dropped their EP Deal Or No Deal today (May 17th) and on the same day their new video “Clearer Coast” with it. The track was premiered on Charlie Sloth’s Rap Show on BBC Radio 1 and then was chosen as his Record Of The Week for next week. Shinobi & Matic Mouth rap with a skippy flow over the eerie key led beat produced by Andy Nicholson and Jamie Shield.

Zinc – Hidden Track

This track isn’t exactly new as it was released on Zinc’s 2003 album Faster’but wasn’t available for download. After demand for the track he decided to put it up on Soundcloud as a free download. Let this drum & bass track take you back in time. Steeped in rolling drums with a melodic bassline. If you know about Zinc you know he has a long career in bass music and has been a key player expanding drum & bass, house and garage in the UK.

Five Emcee’s To Watch Out For In 2015 – @IsaiahDreads @swiftsqueeze4p @Novelist @SNOW667 @ThePotterBk @sleeks300 @inchawali101

I’ve named 5 of my top five artists to watch out for in 2015. See who I think has what it takes below and why…

Isaiah Dreads

A 16 year old grime MC from the West Country. He can already add to his credits performing at Glastonbury, Wireless and Isle of Wight as well as being Zane Low’s ‘Next Hype’ & Mistajam’s ‘Radio Ripper’ for track ‘U See Me’ produced by Preditah. He’s also received co-signs from other radio tastemakers Toddla T & DJ Target. Watch out for more from him this year including a mixtape.

IsaiahDreads

Section Boyz

These guys have been on my radar for a while. A collective of rappers from South London including Swift, Deepee, Sleeks, Knine, Inch, Littlez & Reeko. 2014 saw them really cause a stir and got a lot more people taking notice especially with track ‘Delete My Number’ and mixtape ‘Sectionly’ making a big impact on the underground rap scene. 2015 should see the boys tighten up their game and really shine.

SectionBoyz

Novelist

I first met him in late 2013 and as I saw him freestyle in front of just a few people for a press day I was running I knew I was witnessing something special. Now he has everyone talking, the freestyle on Toddla T’s show over ‘Incredible’ was insane and he has released material on Rinse with Mumdance and now has signed to the legendary XL Recordings for new EP ‘1 Sec’. Founder of Lewisham grime crew The Square; they are essentially going to be the crew in years to come that rule.

Novelist

 Snowy

18 and from Nottingham, I spotted Snowy on social networks and a freestyle video on UGX with some of the other cities sick MC’s such as Dubzy, Vigilant and Fangol and DJ Cameo’s Gimme Grime freestyle alongside Manga and another that’s hotly tipped this year Izzie Gibbs. He really began to get recognition in 2013/2014 and in 2015 I look forward to hearing some really exciting new material from him. Go check out his soundcloud where you can hear two EP’s from him.

snowy

Potter Payper

This Essex rapper has been about on the underground for a little while, but incarcerations have held him back. 2015 should be his year and we will see a new project very soon to be exact 15/01/15 called ‘24’. Last year saw a host of videos and his mixtape ‘Training Day’ be released as well as an epic ‘Fire In The Booth’, ‘Crib Session’ on Westwood TV ‘Warm Up’ on SBTV and a lot more. On instagram we’ve seen potential collabs with Donae’o and Bonkaz. Watch out for him!

Camden Crawl 2014 [Review]

SBTV‘s Shireen Fenner headed to this year’s Camden Crawl festival over the weekend to catch all of the action…

Camden Crawl took place last weekend Friday 20th and Saturday 21st June across many bars and venues. First up on Friday was rising R&B singer Raheem Bakare who played at the Monarch. He wowed the audience with his stunning vocals from his recent EP AWOL as well as covering Sam Smith’s Stay With Me. It wasn’t just me blown away by this future superstar, everyone was captivated as we also all sung along to Bob Marley with Raheem.

Ghetts was up next with his live band and he performed to the packed pub with such raw energy, it was hard to not enjoy his performance. filled with such vigor and freshness. He was joined by Rival, a highly rated MC who performed collaborative track Said To Me with Ghetts, also bursting with liveliness. Ghett’s performed tracks off his album such as Gas Mark 9 leaving us all on a high.

Next stop was Underworld to watch UK rap favourites Krept & Konan. It was disappointing not to see the venue full for them, as these two deserved, but they gave it their all performing their hit Don’t Waste My Time and other tracks off their recently released and critically acclaimed Young King mixtape. DJ Target took over on the decks now to play a mixture of tunes, and Manga joined him on hosting duties keeping the crowd lively.

Itch FM and Big Promo’s Thad Boogie put on a great stage at the Beatrice on the Saturday night. I arrived first to see the rapper everyone is talking about Little Simz. She just released her EP, E.D.G.E, which she showcased some tracks and showed newbies to Simz why she is next in line to blow. Her confidence along with her unique voice, skippy flow and bouncy energy got everyone listening.

Lady Lykez was up next on the same stage, and the North London had the most vivacity of the night. She was like a lioness on stage, encouraging the audience to bounce along with her and chant her lyrics back, she has fantastic stage presence performing tracks such as, I Love My Butt, which celebrates body image, Eurgh and Psycho her recent release which explores dynamics in relationships.

Emily Rawson and Big Ted were at their usual spot in Camden, the Jazz Café where they put on regular hip hop night ‘Supa Dupa Fly’. Here, we checked out Blizzard. With just himself and a keyboard (yes, he plays), along with his charm, he took to the stage performing his own tracks and getting the crowd to sing along to tracks such as Wilkinson’s Afterglow. Our favourite bit of his set was a rendition of Tracey Chapman’s Fast Car nameed Megabus, which was an extremely witty and funny track about the struggles of his journeys from Manchester to London.

Next up, Mumdance and Novelist took it up a notch as it got to that time of the night where we wanted to dance and that is just what we did. Performing at KOKO, Novelist really impressed us with his ability to control the audience and keep them entertained, as well as Mumdance’s too. They both held their own, with Mumdance displaying his unique, futuristic sounds.

Last but not least was Plastician, who had us raving our hearts out to his set. As a pioneer in the scene, we wouldn’t have expected any less than what he gave us switching up between dubstep and grime and a little of something inbetween.

All in all, it was a great weekend for fantastic music, as Ghett’s told us, ““Camden Crawl was one of my best gigs to date, really looking forward doing it again next year. It’s a great festival for introducing new talent into the London scene”. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves  (obviously not the performing part, but, hey, you never know!)

Mumdance (@mumdance) ft Novelist (@Novelist) – Take Time [Music Video]

The Lewisham MC Novelist has been gaining some serious heat around his name and his collaboration with Mumdance will help spread this. Mumdance uses heavy bass shells on this sick beat for Take Time, leaving Novelist to spray over it. This will be on Mumdance’s new EP out June 16th via Rinse.
