The Sounds Of UK Rap @corleonegb @SectionBoyz_ @Official6ix7 @CadelOfficial @MDargg @SkoreBeezy @SKEAMEROJB @UncleFumez

I’m here to bring you some of the latest tracks and news from the world of UK Rap from the past two weeks. We’ve got some big tracks to talk about this week and a huge mixtape that I’ve mentioned in a previous column.

Section Boyz – ‘Dig Dat’

Section Boyz are undeniably the hottest UK rap crew right now. After their national #Sectioned Tour where they brought out Skepta and Drake at their London show, they are keeping things moving with a new track ‘Dig Dat’. The video captures the special moment, commemorating it. The production from Nana Rouges is crisp with a marching beat, setting the pace for each six of Section’s distinctive bars. It’s a clear indication of where Section Boyz are headed with their energy and bars, and that’s straight to the top.

Section Boyz have more tour dates at the beginning of April in Dublin, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as some festivals including Wireless. Get your tickets here.

Corleone feat. Young Adz & Chelski Lauren – ‘On The Boss’

GB Records are home to some of the hardest UK rappers including Skeng, who also dropped a track with C Biz ‘In Ma City’ and Uncle Chunks. Let’s talk about one of their other artists Corleone, who dropped a brand new joint ‘On The Boss.’ It features D Block Europe artist Young Adz, who gives a different component to the track, and Chelski Lauren, whose vocals gives the hook smoothness. Corleone’s laid-back flow complements the production’s relaxed beat, and the track’s title pretty much explains what it’s about. “I’ve got sharper as I’ve grown, earnt my masters on the roads, I’ve nurtured all these youngers, I’m a father to the shows.”

67 (LD & Dimzy) – ’67k What Where!?’

In September 2015, 67 released their mixtape In Skengs We Trust – a strong 20-track mixtape that is available to buy on iTunes. We’ve received the visuals to match one of the tracks, ’67k What Where!?’, from two of the crew, LD & Dimzy. The two provide us with strong, hard bars and effortless flows over a looming, twinkling beat produced by a producer responsible for some of the best UK rap tunes, Carns Hill. It’s combined with a solid hook, capturing the track’s title. “Who are these youts, who are these braes, 67k what where, you can get left right there.” These guys are one to watch, take note.

Cadell feat. Giggs – ‘Coming Through’

The sound on Cadell’s new track is pretty hard to define. It’s a mixture of Grime and Rap, and definitely hard. With Giggs’ distinctive voice on the hook and a verse to match, he gives the track a laid-back element on the hook, switching it up on his verse. This combined with Cadell’s skippy flow makes the track a straight up banger. ‘Coming Through’ has some funny visuals to match and it’s certainly something different.

M Dargg, Skore Beezy & Skeamer – ‘Kobe’

Straight out of South London, M Dargg, Skore Beezy and Skeamer bring you the visuals to their collaborative track ‘Kobe’. A key-led intro brings the track into a rolling percussive beat, allowing M Dargg to ride it with his bars followed by Skore Beezy, whose flow is undeniably tight; last but not least, Skeamer provides the hook. ‘Kobe’ is a hood anthem and is one for the streets. A cold beat with colder lyrics, Beezy spits “swerve on man with 2 wheels, serve on bats with a few deals, birds in packs with 2 seals, how you swerve on yats with 2 bills.” Check it out below.

Fumez The Engineer

Fumez The Engineer is one of the most highly regarded studio engineers in the UK scene and his mixtape, where he collaborates with some of the biggest names in UK Rap and Grime, has made a lot of noise. Over the past couple of weeks he’s dropped more studio videos from the project. We’ve seen Cadet’s ‘Grime God’ drop, along with Joe Black’s ‘Back To The Music,’ Trapz’s ‘100%’, Benny Banks’ ‘Murder Freestyle’, and Ms Banks’ ‘Amazing.’ The mixtape itself was also released and made available to stream. Make sure you support good UK music and download it here

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @TheBugzyMalone @StickyBloodUK @KaneUHF @CADELLOFFICIAL @TheRealKano

Kano – Endz

“Endz” is the latest cut to be heard from Kano’s forthcoming album Made In The Manor. The album is going to do some serious damage to the Grime scene when it drops with track “3 Wheels-Ups” already dropping and causing excitement. The lyrics match the nostalgic and reflective track perfectly with Kano talking about his career and the journey he’s been on. It shows a different side to the East London MC, who is pensive and analyses life in his hometown.

Cadell – The Death Of Me

Bow, East London is the home of Grime, and Cadell is one of Grime’s newest and freshest MCs to step up from the ends. He slows it down for “The Death Of Me”, getting deep and personal over a chiming, ghostly instrumental. He talks about his life and upbringing in Bow amongst other real life issues. Look out for more from this fiery artist.

Kane – Don’t Be Shy

Don’t Be Shy is the first single to be taken from 21-year old R&B singers Kane forthcoming album Designed For Me. It shows a mature and grown up Kane to previous material. After taking a hiatus to reflect on his music, he is back with a unique and fresh sound. “Don’t Be Shy” is sweet and soulful and showcases Kane’s stunning and striking vocals whilst allowing him to be raw in his authenticity.

Sticky Blood ft. Gaby Henshaw – Valium

Production duo Sticky Blood made their first appearance for 2016 with brand new track ‘Valium’ featuring the vocals of Gaby Henshaw. An energetic, anthemic, electronic cut is the sound behind it, and the cinematic visuals show Gaby in the hills searching for something, with it intensifying as the track builds up. Check it out below.

Bugzy Malone – Mosh Pit Gang

Manchester Grime MC Bugzy Malone returns in 2016 with “Mosh Pit Gang” to show he is not messing around. Produced by Rude Kid, Bugzy goes in with some braggadocious, intense and warning bars in this high energy packed track. This track is sure to be a hit at raves and festivals and you know it’s going to cause many moshpits when it drops, so be warned!

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @BigFris @iamShakka @merkyACE @CADELLOFFICIAL @StickyBloodUK @TheCocoUK @JusRival @Jammz

Frisco ft Shakka – Different Kind

This isn’t the first time Frisco and Shakka have collaborated, at the beginning of this year Frisco dropped a verse on Shakka’s “Rollin With Elephants”, and he has in turn come on board for Frisco’s “Different Kind”. This track sees Frisco take an unexpected turn as he spits over a rock beat, whilst Shakka brings the fluid gold to the hook. Take a listen to “Different Kind” below, we’re sure you will be impressed.

Merky Ace x Cadell – Alive

Tizzy Gangs Merky Ace and Cadell drop the brand new black & white visuals to track “Alive”. It’s a good track to end the year on, as they both are reflective and talk about how to be valued and appreciated whilst they are here. The lyrics and visuals come across quite chilling, and the track is a definite for our tracks of the week.

Sticky Blood ft. Coco & Snowy – One Bar In

Production duo Sticky Blood show a gritty, futuristic side to their producing skills on “One Bar In”. They are joined by two of the hottest MCs from the North of England, Sheffield’s Coco who Annie Mac has named on her ‘Hot For 2016′ list and is playlisted on Kiss 100, 1Xtra, AKA and Flava TV with his single, and Nottingham MC Snowy who has gained a lot of attention this year too. Both were named on Complex’s ’15 Grime MC’s Outside Of London That You Need To Know Today’ list.

Rival ft. Blay – Alright

East London MC Rival released his latest EP ‘Eat Biscuits’ in October, named after his love for biscuits. This week saw the video for one of the tracks come out ft. Blay who also produced the track. The video and track is dark and sinister, reflecting on people that act like something they’re not and give it the big talk.

AJ Tracey ft Jammz – Bare Girls

Both AJ Tracey and Jammz are names you need to pay attention too as they are set for big things. “Bare Girls” is taken from AJ Tracey’s highly anticipated Alex Moran EP which dropped on Friday. The track shows love to the girls which is quite rare in Grime, especially when it’s in a positive way. The track is produced by Jammz too, and shows why the two are the hottest prospects for Grime.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week

Dapz On The Map – Murdah

Birmingham’s Dapz On The Map keeps it local, as he hooks up with fellow Brum Swifta Beater for the production of new track “Murdah”. The track features a guest performance from his 5-year old daughter Lee On The Map. Dapz brings the heat lyrically to this track talking about his life and his own presence in the music game. The video to the track dropped this week and the visuals are really on point. Check it out below.

Mic Righteous – Ronnie Pickering

Mic Righteous has been silent for a little while, but we do know he has been quiet for a reason as he has been working on his debut album. He makes a fiery return showing us his passion and ethic is still here. If this is a taster of whats to come on the album, it’s definitely going to be something to look forward to!

Cadell x So Large & Grim Sickers – Cilit Bang

This war dub is crazy from London Grime MC’s Cadell, So Large and Grim Sickers who send for Sheffield Grime crew Scumfam. All three MC’s bring lyrical beef as they go in with some of the hardest bars, all bringing something different to the table. These three should work together more often as you can see they bounce well off each other. Now we will have to wait for Scumfam’s response.

WSTRN – IN2

WSTRN came and conquered with their first official single “IN2” and last week brought the visuals to accompany the track which has been all over the airwaves. The feel-good, sunny track has a lot of crossover appeal, with smooth vocals, a catchy hook and sick rapping that gives it the street credibility needed to create an irresistible track. Check out the laced visuals..

DJ Cable ft Mez – One Line Flows

If you’re a Grime fan you would know who Mez is instantly. The Nottingham MC who recently clashed on Lord Of The Mics 7 spits pure fire on DJ Cable’s new track. If you like listening to an MC with pure energy, passion and some humor to go along with it, make sure you check out the video for “One Line Flows”.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @OfficialChip @NewhamGenerals @CadellOfficial @IsaiahDreads @Scrufizzer @Saskilla @DJCameo

All my tracks seem to be Grime ones this week, and I can assure you they are all worthy to be included. From the cheeky ‘Feeling Myself’ to war track ‘Hotline’ and feel good one ‘Foolish’ this is why I can say safely say all Grime isn’t the same, so don’t put it in a box again!

Chip ft Kano & Wretch 32– Feeling Myself

I have to start with this one ‘Feeling Myself’ from Chip as it’s a proper feel good, funky track that is a production you would associate more with a hip hop tune than a Grime one, but it sure sounds good. It features quick witted, sizzling and cheeky bars from Kano and Wretch 32 as the three show different can be good. This will be on Chip’s forthcoming EP ‘Believe & Achieve – Episode 1’ out on May 4th.

Newham Generals – Soundboi Killa

The Newham Generals have done it again with this future classic ‘Soundboi Killa’ produced by the bass don Toddla T. When you hear these three names you know it can only mean one thing…it’s Grime, with reggae influences, plenty of bass with computer game sounds. The best duo in Grime kill it and control the mic like the dons they are. Their EP ‘N To The Gs’ will be out very soon too!

Cadell – Hotline

Woahhhhh so it’s sending season, and Cadell really caught my attention with this one I had to add it as one of my tracks of the week. The East London MC goes in for a whole host of MC’s such as Stormzy, Maxsta, Jammer, Elf Kid, Stelf, Mez and more in this one shot taken video called ‘Hotline’. Mez has sent a reply which I’ve put the video to called ‘#64 Bars Of Air Pie’.

Isaiah Dreads ft C4 – Foolish

Let’s take it back now to some more bouncy, happier vibes with the 17-year old Grime MC from Dorset Isaiah Dreads. We heard the track on Soundcloud which seems to have gained co-signs from DJ’s Target, Cameo, Phil Taggart, Huw Stevens, Mistajam and more who have all pressed play on it. Produced by the go-to producer Preditah and featuring his brother C4, this is a more uplifting, melodic track showing off Isaiah’s fast paced flow.

Gunplay ft Rick Ross & Scrufizzer, Saskilla and Maxsta – Aiight

Last but certainly not least, a US to UK remix here with Gunplay ft Rick Ross’ track ‘Aiight’ being given a Grime remix with three very hard lyricists Scrufizzer, Saskilla and Maxsta all going in over the remix which Darq E Freaker provided for them. S/O DJ Cameo for putting this one together, I look forward to seeing more of this from them.
