The Sounds Of UK Rap @lilnastyuk @Boasy_Blittz @BigTobzsf @AdianCoker @officialAvelino @PotterPayper

Lil Nasty

On New Year’s Day, platform SBTV dropped 5 videos called ‘Better Place’ from five talented UK rappers. The conceptual tracks/visuals are about their specific and different areas they are from and how they feel about them. In a very poignant showing, (following the tragic death of his little brother Nico Ramsay), Lil Nasty – who is known as a Grime MC – brought ‘Better Place’ to Plaistow. It’s a tribute to his brother and is emotional and moving, with Nasty taking on one of his first ever rap tracks, and doing it justice. He opens ‘Better Place (Plaistow)’ saying “What happened to the fun times, now it’s all blades and gun crime, youngers on the front line, attitude is thug life.”

Blittz & Big Tobz

Blittz & Big Tobz are two East London rappers who quickly made a name for themselves in 2015, both singly and as a duo with their on point punchlines and memorable tracks. ‘Wicked And Bad’ is the latest release from the rap duo, and an enticing track to kick off their collaborative forthcoming project Case Closed, which is set to be released in August 2016. Case Closed is produced and will be released by The Heavytrackerz, setting a new benchmark for the rap game. This track is the perfect introduction to the LP with an enthralling beat and the hook, which embodies the title track.

Adian Coker

Adian Coker is no stranger to the hip-hop game – he first staked his claim in the underground with his debut mixtape release Lights Fantastic, with his follow-up Young World propelling him past that success. He now returns with his brand new track ‘No Angel’, with a sample of Madonna’s ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ and a glimpse of Kanye West’s ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing.’ Adian laces the track with his deep vocals and dives straight into exploring and taking control of the production, with his lyrics using emotion, frustration and strength to bring inspiration. It’s just Adian baring himself to the world with no barriers to hold him back.

Avelino

Hailing from Tottenham, Avelino turned heads when he dropped his free collaborative mixtape with Wretch 32 titled Young Fire, Old Flame in 2015. This year is all about his own music though, which kicks off with ‘Welcome To The Future,’ produced by Raf Riley. It showcases his distinctive lyricism, signature wordplay and inimitable flow, and stakes his strong presence in the game where he has now become a successful artist after years in the underground. The track has got a futuristic and fresh sound to it and is just the start of things to come this year. He will be releasing his debut EP soon too so make sure you watch out for that.

Potter Payper

Essex rapper Potter Payper released his 7-track One Time EP on March 31st and also dropped a new visual off of their ‘Real Life (Black Impala).’ It’s the second visual from the EP, following on from ‘Normal’ (feat Maverick Sabre). ‘Real Life’ provides a soulful, contemplative glimpse at Payper’s struggles with the visuals ever-reflecting the lyrics. Potter raps, “Sugh Knight in this Black Impala, mob shit tryna jack him after. I’m too G I’m so Bush Obama,” over a guitar-led track. Potter is definitely one of the coldest UK rappers, with some of the realist lyrics. You can get his EP here.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @SectionBoyz_ @Heavytrackerz @lilnastyuk @Frictionshogun @HannahV

The Heavytrackerz x Section Boyz – Say It Ain’t That

Section Boyz dropped their project Don’t Panic this week which now has landed in the UK Top 20! They also dropped the visuals to “Say It Ain’t That” a collaborative track with producers The Heavytrackerz, it’s not grime, it’s not rap, it’s just pure UK vibes. This collaboration was always going to be good, but the collabo is on next levels…

Lil Nasty, Grim Sickers, Mez, So Large & Roachee – Hear Dat A Lot

Taken from East London MC, Lil Nasty’s 100 Rounds mixtape which dropped earlier this year, the video for “Hear Dat A Lot” has now arrived which features a variety of grime artists on it. Grim Sickers, Mez, So Large & Roachee all accompany Lil Nasty bringing fiery bars to this heavyweight track.

Friction ft Josh Barry – Freak VIP

Shogun label bossman and producer/DJ of all things drum & bass Friction returns with a soul coated, heavy new single “Freak”. Friction teams up with vocalist Josh Barry for this poignant, elated track along with a VIP remix. If you’ve been to any festivals across the UK you would recognise this track from his sets which he’s been using as his finale!

Hannah V – It Ain’t Right

Hannah V is a one unique and talented lady, and has just unleashed upon us her brand new single “It Ain’t Right” on the label Pitched Up. The producer who is a beast when it comes to laying down a track, brings in Louise LaBelle to lay down the vocals. Hannah loves bass heavy productions and this track definitely is no different with sonic vocal highs merged with the basslines gritty lows.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @officialAvelino @Bonkaz @lilnastyuk @iAmShakka @JMEBBK @SectionBoyz_ @DevlinOfficial

Bonkaz & Avelino – Shine

Bonkaz and Avelino have generated a lot of heat in the music world this year with their releases individually. The two new generation artists are serious ones to watch and if you haven’t taken note already, do now! The track shows off both of their hard, lyrical ability as they go back to back effortlessly over an Acekeyz produced hip hop beat.

Lil Nasty – Regardless

East London Grime MC Lil Nasty has dropped quite a lot of new music this year keeping the heat on his name. He continues to bring the fire after the release of mixtape ‘100 Rounds’ this summer with new single ‘Regardless’, which is produced by another big name in Grime Sir Spryo. Nasty goes in on this track where he talks about making it ‘Regardless’ in music, it’s a kind of self motivational track.

Shakka & JME – Say Nada

A song about a break-up joins singer/songwriter Shakka with Boy Better Know’s JME. Shakka shows conflicting emotion in this song where he talks about finding a freak who likes ‘tasty meat’, whilst on the flip side dealing with the heartbreak alone on his house. This is his first single to be released via label Pitched Up who he has just signed with, and will be on his third forthcoming EP ‘Lost Boys’.

Section Boyz – Lock Arff

London based rap crew Section Boyz who this year have created a big name for themselves, and will continue to rise drop a brand new video for single ‘Lock Arff’. The menacing lyrics and delivery from the crew are carried over a threatening bass led production. They have established themselves through their unique flows and rhymes, and are gearing up for the release of their debut album ‘Don’t Panic’ out September 18th.

Term & Rachet ft. Devlin – Corned Beef City

Old skool Grime MC Devlin is back with brand new track ‘Corned Beef City’ with producers Term & Rachet. He delivers intense bars over the heavy production. We haven’t heard that much from Devlin recently, and it seems the reason why is because the producers are working with Devlin on his third studio album. That is definitely something to look forward too!

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week @kreptplaydirty @konanplaydirty @MrBigzOfficial @Wretch32 @delibricks @BladeMusic @lilnastyuk @MajorB2DAL@FlashyShalo

I’m not going to talk about the Grime beef going on between Chip, Skepta, Devilman, Saskilla, Big Narstie and now Shizz as I’m sure you can find out enough online if you’re interested. Lets keep it to what it’s about my favourite tracks of the past week with all the best in UK only rap & grime.

Krept & Konan ft Rick Ross – Certified

Well these two rappers are certainly creating history again and shot to the Top 5 in the album charts with just the news of their album release alone. After that they dropped the track to one of their most excitable collaborations with the Maybach Music boss Rick Ross and it is a ‘Certified’ banger with Ross bringing the heat too. ‘The Long Way Home’ album is due July 6th.

Mr Bigz ft Wretch 32 – Finer Taste

Mr Bigz is a UK rap veteran and last Summer he dropped his ‘S.U.M.M.E.R’ EP with some soulful, classic hip hop tracks. Last week saw him release the video to one of the favorable tracks off it ‘Finer Taste’ featuring Wretch 32, and it seems the two rappers bring the best out in each other in this Nas sampled track.

Deli Bricks ft Blade Brown – Deadlines

As Deli Bricks mixtape ‘Finnesin’ is coming up for realise on April 12th as a free download on GRM Daily, he keeps the momentum flowing releasing the 2nd visual to another collaborative track, this time featuring one of UK raps hardest lyricists Blade Brown. A mixture of flows and bars from the two makes for a heavy combination of truthful storytelling on this trap beat.

Lil Nasty ft Nasty Jack, Milli Major and Sgt Elz – F You Remix

‘F You’ remix video dropped shot by Grimes legendary Risky Roads and featuring Nasty Jack, Milli Major and Sgt Elz. This looks set to be the beginning of Lil Nasty’s new A.M.O Nation imprint and perhaps an EP or mixtape on the way. The 4 MC’s go in, each spitting a verse on this high energy Grime track with a nostalgic shot video.

Shalo – Running From Myself

Shalo is a artist signed to Alwayz Recordings and who has previously released music alongside Chip, Double S, Yellows and more. He is spiritual and this track sees him paint a vivid picture with deep and real life situations that many can relate too. It features some beautiful vocals too, cementing the emotional song more. This will be on his forthcoming EP ‘The White Room’.

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week (@Frenchyleboss) (@Officialgiggs) (@SwiftSection) (@SleeksSection) (@GenesisElijah) (@MajorB2DAL) (@Lilnastyuk) (@SRUFIZZER) (@JMEBBK)

I’ve been away for 9 days, so this is my first post back from my holidays and seeing as it’s Monday it might as well be my tracks of the week! We have some good UK rap and Grime tunes, especially the JME surprise videos and album announcement!

Frenchy Le Boss ft Giggs – Flexing

Frenchy Le Boss & Giggs team up for this absolute banger. This track is one from for the clubs. Expect to hear some bilingual rap from Frenchy Le Boss and some hard bars and naughty lyrics from Giggs.

Swift & Sleeks – Let My Squad Up

Swift & Sleeks from one of the most talked about UK rap crews around at the moment; Section Boyz, come together as a duo for this one titled ‘Let My Squad Up’. They showcase their lyrics over a dark trap beat.

Genesis Elijah – Spin Em Round

Wiley dropped some instrumentals on Soundcloud and Genesis Elijah decided to bless one of them with some bars. Complementing the Godfather of Grime’s skills as a producer, Genesis Elijah a well-respected rapper comes with some hot bars and a catch chorus.

Milli Major ft Scrufizzer & Lil Nasty – Stable

Bloodline’s Milli Major drops the second visual from his highly anticipated ‘Bloods Thicker Than Water’ EP due for release in April. This track features Scrufizzer and Lil Nasty who each add some of their own Grime flavour to the track. The EP will feature some of Grime’s finest artists including D Double E, Flirta D, Chronik and more.

JME – Integrity, Taking Over (It Ain’t Working) & Work

This is exciting me as much as the release of Skepta’s album to be as honest, as JME announced the release of his album ‘Integrity’ slated for a May 4th release. To celebrate the news, JME dropped three videos unannounced! Only JME would do that and we all love him for it! Check out the videos for ‘Integrity’, ‘Taking Over’ and ‘Work’ which will all be on the album.

MTV The Wrap Up: UK Rap Rundown [News]

There was loads of new music in from the world of UK rap and grime this week. Let’s kick it off with some Valentine’s specials, as there were a quite a few people in the romantic mood. First up was a special Valentines treat on Feb 14 from Dru Blu as he showed his gentler side for his three track EP release ‘Bad Romance’ which is available to buy on iTunes now.

Peckham’s Snap Capone keeps things rolling in 2014 after his much talked about mixtape ‘The Memoir’ which was released in Dec 2013. I was very interested to hear his Valentine’s track, where he used Ashanti’s ‘Foolish’ instrumental to spit some love/lust influenced bars.

Stormyz is one to really keep an eye on, and I loved his video he dropped on Valentine’s day for the ladies. ‘All That Matterz’ uses Justin Bieber’s instrumental and his flow is so fluid and effortless, with his content showing maturity. This is such a big track and one to definitely add to the playlist.

Off the Valentines subject now and moving on to some other great releases this week which saw Shak Corleone record some bars over the ‘Pound Cake’ instrumental. He was asked by his friend R.A who is currently incarcerated to record it, even though many others have done it already. He did do it proper, it’s one of the hardest ones I’ve heard.

This is a massive collaborative track that dropped last week which saw the band Sir Apollo record with producer/rapper Ayo Beatz and lyricists Sho ShallowArd Adz and Maxsta. Lead singer Khuddus takes care of the hook for ‘Appreciated’ with Ayo Beatz coming in with the first verse with all the artists talking through what it means to be valued and understood.

Lil Nasty reps East London for his second single off his EP ‘Nasty Piece Of Work’. ‘My Town’ is produced by Teddy and features Griminal. He talks about making ‘that music money’ which he should as he has been putting in a lot of work recently, along with starting his new label Bassheads and more.

DJ Cameo and the Future Grime Music crew are back with the visual for ‘Moonwalker’ which sees Kozzie, Scrufizzer, Saskilla, Jamkay, Brotherhood, Drifer, Dusky and Bookie all spit some solid grime bars, each with their signature flows and gritty lyrics for a fresh new take on grime that’s commercially viable.
