Pixies Tracks Of The Week @LoickEssien @KokeUSG @CHASEANDSTATUS @OfficialGiggs @IsaiahDreads @casisdead @Young_Spray

Loick Essien ft. K Koke – Glory

Following his collaboration with Wretch 32 “Too Grown”, Loick Essien one of the UK’s favourite homegrown R&B singers hit up North West London rapper K Koke for “Glory”. This track is edgy and has UK culture written all over it, with Loick bringing sensational vocals and K Koke dropping a gritty verse showing he is back to do some damage.

Chase & Status ft. Giggs – More Ratatatin

Last week we announced that Chase & Status had started a series London Bars where they drop a track each week with some of the UK’s finest artists. Beginning with Frisco, they have this week moved on to drop a new one “Ratatatin” with one of UK Rap’s greatest Giggs. The Hollowman rapper spits over a sick instrumental that mixes hip hop and Grime showing him taking to the street and studio in the video. The next one up will be Bonkaz.

Isaiah Dreads – Lights Turn Green

A serious one to watch Grime artist for your radar for 2016 is 18-year old Dorset based MC Isaiah Dreads, who’s premiered the title cut off his forthcoming mixtape Lights Turn Green on Clash Magazine. It has a guest feature from Saskilla, and shows the wiser, maturer and confident Isaiah to his previous music. It’s calm, cool and graceful and is the introduction to the mixtape which is full of Isaiah’s explosive passion.

CASisDEAD ft. Giggs – What’s My Name [Directors Cut]

The masked MC CasIsDead dropped the Director’ Cut to “What’s My Name” last week and grabbed Giggs for the second verse. Giggs adds his menacing style of rap to the already gritty track and video and is seen walking with his crew. The impressive video still sees meth labs and serial killers with added intensity for the second cut.

Young Spray – Sho

North London’s Young Spray shows us a different side to his music as he drops “Sho”. This track sees him spray bars over a Show N Prove beat. Whilst normally dropping road bangers, this track shows a more upbeat, lyrically charged and witty Young Spray, and it could easily be heard in the clubs, not just on the road. We look forward to hearing more tunes like this from him.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @Adele @Bonkaz @YellowsUK @Young_Spray @OfficialGiggs @Novelist @KyleLettman

Adele – Hello

News came out that one of Britain’s finest singers Adele has completed her new album 25 and this week saw her release the video to her first single to be heard off of it “Hello”. The single was premiered on the breakfast show on Radio 1 along with an honest interview with Adele that reminded us why she is seen as a national treasure to us. The soulful singer has yet again captivated people with her voice, haunted with her lyrics and got people talking about the flip phone in her video. Watch it below.

Bonkaz – You Don’t Know

Bonkaz shows people he can have fun with his music too with his new track “You Don’t Know” which samples Dizzee Rascal’s “Bonkers”. Produced by Splurgeboys and Sonny Reeves, Annie Mac announced it as her ‘hottest record in the world’ on her Radio 1 show. This track is set to be another future anthem from Bonkaz, who we can see is going to be bringing us hits for a long time to come.

Yellows – Yella Belly

Alwayz Recordings rapper from North London Yellows has just dropped the visuals to accompany his new freestyle “Yella Belly” which premiered on GRM Daily. Yellows talk real life issues in this new one, what he’s been going through personally and why he’s been quite for a bit musically. He rides the beat like a pro and his flow is naturally tight on it. This is real and why it’s one of my tracks of the week.

Young Spray & Giggs – Gangster For Certain

What a combination. When you hear these two names together you know this is going to be a banger. North London’s Young Spray joins forces with South London’s Giggs who are two of UK rap’s hardest; bring us the video for “Gangsters For Certain”. This is UK rap at it’s grittiest and is a street anthem that will be a classic for years to come.

Novelist – Endz

Lewisham Grime MC Novelist keeps coming with the bangers and “Endz” sees the 18-year-old take it back in time to the foundational roots. The video is nostalgic, looking like it was filmed on a handheld camera giving it a vintage feel, and the beat is minimal allowing Novelist to spray his bars about his hometown of Brockley.

Kyle Lettman – Crush

Kyle Lettman that will get you feeling all hot under the collar when you press play on his sexy, brand new single “Crush” off his second EP Under Construction which will drop next month. “Crush” brings old school R&B vibes back that we all remember and love with some reggae influence, which kind of reminds us a bit of Sean Paul but more R&B. It will make you want to hit the dance floor as it’s filled with straight vibes bringing a basement feel.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @MajorB2DAL @Prez_T @pabbywabby @Wretch32 @Stormzy1 @ClubsandSpades1 @mrbennybanks @JoeBlackUK @Young_Spray @officialchip

Milli Major ft Prez T & Paper Pabs– Shut Down The Dance

‘Shut Down The Dance’ is like a hardcore grime rave tune and it will do what it says in the title when played in a rave/club! This is from Bloodline representative’s Milli Major, Prez T & Paper Pabs who are royalty in the Grime scene. This will be on Milli Major’s forthcoming EP ‘Bloods Thicker Than Water’ set for release 31st May and sees the finest talent on it from D Double E to Flirta D and producers such as Rude Kid and True Tiger.

The Stray Doggz ft Wretch 32 & Stormzy – Skank Out

To be honest I’d never heard of this producer duo before I got sent this track through and this is their debut single ‘Skank Out’ featuring two highly respected artists Wretch 32 & Stormzy. With the ‘woofs’ on the hook incorporated into the lyrics and two of the sickest MC’s at the moment on it, this trap led tune can only mean one thing, a straight up banger! It’s aggression and honesty makes me love it even more..

Clubs & Spades – Deal Or No Deal

‘Deal Or No Deal’ is the first track taken from newcomers Clubs & Spades forthcoming EP of the same name. They may be newcomers as a collective, but make no mistake each of them have been in the music game and had great careers in it already. They blend hip hop, punk and funk where the two producers use live instruments along with the MC’s rapping in their Northern accents which creates a unique sound. This track talks real life issues…

Benny Banks & Joe Black – Know Me From (remix)

Covering Stormzy’s hit track ‘Know Me From’, North London’s Benny Banks and Joe Black who have been in the rap game for quite some time now put their spin on it. They tackle the track with such finesse it’s like it was one of their own! They both are slick lyricists so we expect nothing but fire from them. The two have a joint mixtape dropping soon, which will show definitely bring a lot of heat to the music game this summer.

Young Spray ft Wretch 32 & Chip – Proud

North London MC’s Young Spray, Wretch 32 and Chip join together for new track ‘Proud’ which is a introspective track of how they grew up. It’s shows Wretch & Young Spray’s journey as they spit while Chip handles the hook, where they look back at their hard lives growing up, where they are at now and what it took to get there. It’s personable, heartfelt and deep and the kind of rap I like.

MTV The Wrap Up: UK Rap Rundown [News]

I don’t think many weeks have gone by without me mentioning these guys names over the past few months, and it was only over a week ago they won best newcomers at the MOBO’s. Even bigger news for them this week; Krept & Konan announced on Wednesday (23) that they had officially signed a deal with Virgin EMI.

Krept said via Twitter: “We will always be Krept & Konan and I’m glad we have a major label willing support us for what WE do that don’t want us to change.”

North London rapper Young Spray who has been in the game for around a decade took to Link-Up TV to hit us with some hard street bars for his second ‘Behind Barz’. It also got a lot of people talking on whether he was taking a direct shot at Mashtown’s J Spades.

“I’m that rapper that has never ever gave man fades, more like I gave man spades to bury their friend.”

One of the UK’s most promising emcee’s dropped the first video ‘Testing The Water’ from his forthcoming EP of the same name due in January 2014. Blizzard from Manchester let us into his thoughts for this deep track, also showing us he is a well-rounded artists by playing the piano, singing and also producing the track.

Another young rapper from Manchester put out a video for us last week. This one is from Geko who put out a freestyle video for track ‘Working’ which discusses some life experiences and what he sees around him. Look out for more in the coming months from Geko.

We know Dru Blu’s been hard at work in the studio as he is due to drop his ‘Double or Nothing’ street album soon which sees features from Stylo G, FekkyDavinche and more. Warming us up for the release and perhaps showing us one of his impressive tracks off the album, Dru dropped the video to ‘Game Changer’, featuring and produced by the talented Dot Rotten. I can’t wait to hear what else Dru has in store for us.

MTV The Wrap Up: UK Rap Rundown [News]

Last week I was out in Los Angeles for the BET Awards with The Wrap Up’s editor. We were lucky enough to see Beyonce perform her first show on her North America Mrs Carter tour, before going to a BET kick-off party at Drai’s Nightclub on the rooftop of the W Hotel. We also attended an amazing BET after party hosted by Chris Brown, where we saw rapper Problem perform…

We also spoke to many celebrities on the red carpet at the awards including Elijah Blake, Bridget Kelly, DJ Drama, French MontanaElephant Man, 2 Chainz and more as well as spotting Pharrell, Chris BrownKendrick Lemar and Jamie Foxx.

There have been a couple of notable mixtapes out this week. The first one comes from Church Road rapper Nines, who although is currently incarcerated, dropped ‘Gone Till November’ along with a video ‘Growing Up/ Back In The Day ’ on SB.TV’s channel. I’m pleased to see new material from the North West London rapper whose last mixtape ‘From Church Rd To Hollywood’ became an instant classic. Even if he is gone till November, this material is good enough to keep his fans satisfied until then, with personal and motivational tracks.

North London’s Young Spray has gained himself a high spot in the UK rap scene. Along with dropping strong projects consistently, his levels of hard content and lyricism have kept him a favourite in the UK rap game. ‘Hard To Kill Vol. 3’ is the latest offering and as ever, he delivers some hard hitting, powerful tracks just right for the streets.

Eurogang rappers Mega and Mayhem who make SAS have been keeping their flow of work consistent and last week dropped a slick video to track ‘I Am James Bond’ off their latest mixtape ‘Coming To America 2’.

Tinie Tempah has been abit quiet for a little while now and it’s been nearly three years since the release of his debut album ‘Disc-Overy’, meaning his fans will be pleased about the release of new material from his forthcoming album ‘Demonstration’. The East London rapper who has been doing extremely well worldwide is joined by 2 Chainz for the Diplo produced track called ‘Trampoline’.

Hailing from South London and in my opinion one of the best to come from there is DVS. He went back to BBC Radio 1Xtra to join Charlie Sloth for his Fire In The Booth freestyle show where he dropped some heavy weight bars, with subjects ranging from the roads to females. He is releasing a mixtape ‘London Boy, American Dreaming’ soon, so watch out for that.

Another favourite from South of the river in London is Sneakbo who has always managed to keep his work rate rolling. His latest summer club smash ‘Ring A Ling’ was released yesterday (July 7) and he has already given us a behind-the-scenes clip of his new video ‘I Don’t Trust Nobody’. Sneakbo again has come through with another strong certified street track.

Young Spray – Diamonds [Music Video]

Young Spray puts his spin on Trinidad James All Gold Everything in his new track Diamonds this street track shows why he is realer than most.
