Pixies Tracks Of The Week @CokesM3 @IvyLab_ @FekyOfficial @YoungsTeflon

Coco – Target Practice

Renowned Sheffield Grime artist Coco drops a fresh, new track “Target Practice” with production from another Sheffield native and legendary BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJ Toddla T. Coco really shines on this track as he goes in hard with his bars with straight fire and no hooks over a dark, sub heavy instrumental. Watch out for him as he has started to become on tastemakers radars and is one to watch.

Ivy lab – Focus

Ahead of their Fabric appearance, Ivy Lab drop “Focus” as a free download. The London trio of prolific D&B producers give us a treat with this track for a dancefloor filler, velvet roller that has both harsh and smooth elements too it. It has an emotive depth to it too. If you like what you hear make sure you head down to catch them in EC1.

Fekky ft Skepta – Way Too Much

It’s been around a year since Fekky and Skepta linked up for a collaboration for a remix. Now they join forces again for Fekky’s brand new single “Way Too Much” where Boy Better Know’s Skepta provides the hook and a verse over the minimal production, allowing the lyrics to take center stage. This is UK music at it’s best, with road rap and Grime joining for a banging track. Fekky’s album El Clasico will be dropping soon too.

Youngs Teflon – Run DMC

South London MC Youngs Teflon returns with “Run DMC” bringing the Summer vibes with his video. The instrumental has a melancholic, ethereal feel with Tefs dropping some truthful, hard-hitting bars.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @TheBugzyMalone @Skepta @Fluxpavilion @Gfrsh @HarryShotta

Bugzy Malone – Watch Your Mouth

Manchester grime MC Bugzy Malone has been putting in the work with his presence and buzz being more prominent as of late, especially with his lyrical beef with Chip helping to excel his popularity. He dropped the first visual “Watch Your Mouth”, produced by Rude Kid, shot in his hometown from his forthcoming EP Walk With Me out July 26. The video depicts the grittiness of the track where he is giving a warning to people to watch themselves. Could it be a pre war track warming up for Lord of The Mics 7?

Skepta – Lukey World

Last week the death of Lukey Maxwell who was fatally stabbed, hit a lot of North London Grime MC’s in a bad way inlcuding Chip, Paper Pabs and more. His close friend Skepta paid homage and respect by recording a track”Lukey World” dedicated to him. Skepta honours him by reflecting to the world on his friend’s strength, kindness and music he was due to release.

Flux Pavilion – Who Wants To Rock ft. Riff Raff

Flux Pavilion the label co boss of Circus Records performed live at EDC New York, showcasing his new track “Who Want To Rock” ft legendary Riff Raff who gives the track a trap element with his insane, mic wrecking lyrics. Although the beat keeps a more electronic UK feel. It’s safe to assume that this track will be on Flux’s forthcoming album, and if this track is anything to go by, we can expect big things.

G Frsh ft Stormzy & Tinie Tempah – Sometimes

G Frsh drops the visuals for the very powerful “Sometimes”. The Berlin shot track is filled with emotion and self-confession, showing us a softer side to the three rappers and giving us a closer look into their minds. We hear G Frsh, Tinie Tempah and Stormzy trade bars regarding feelings after a relationship break down.

Harry Shotta – Animal

Charlie Sloth took to the radio to premiere D&B/Jungle MC Harry Shotta’s brilliant new track “Animal”. It has now been reported that it has now broken the World Record for the most words in a track, previously held by Eminem on “Rap God”. The lyrical beasts fast-paced flow went over the previous record by over 200 words. The track has blown up and is currently in the top 10 UK hip hop charts. Watch the visuals below.

Pixies Tracks Of The Week @Sneakbo @theupbeats @Skepta @Meridian_Dan @WileyUpdates

Sneakbo & Kranium – Lifestyle Remix

South London rapper Sneakbo dropped his mixtape Jetski Wave 2 in February, which is one of the hottest of the year thus far and hosted by DJ Whoo Kid. This week we got the official video to the “Lifestyle remix” track off it which is my personal favourite off the tape where he talks about his life, his journey and his hopes, dream and ambitions.

Caribou – Back Home (The Upbeats Bootleg) (feat Voices)

New Zealand producer duo The Upbeats have taken Caribou’s rather relaxed tune “Back Home” and given it a sumptuous drum & bass remix with synths plus vocals from Voices, whilst still leaving the original coatings remaining the same. The build up to the drop is delightful, elevating to a sub bass that gradually comes in. The producers have also added an extra treat; the track is available for a free download by clicking here

Skepta – Shutdown (Idris Elba Remix)

You will recognise the name Idris Elba more from the acting world more than music, from an array of hit TV drama’s including The Wire and Luther along with films such as Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and more being nominated for Grammy Awards too. He is a DJ though, under the moniker DJ Big Driis and has released tracks and has production credits to his name, so it’s no surprise really when he was asked to hook up with Skepta for a remix of Shutdown. Listen below and appreciate his bars as he goes in hard.

Meridian Dan – The Bits

Meridian Dan from one of Grime’s most well known crews, Bloodline has dropped a single titled “The Bits”. He signed to label PMR after a successful 2014 which included his single “German Whip” reaching the top 20 single charts. “The Bits” is produced by Tow Inch Punch and we can expect it to be on his forthcoming debut album ‘I Am London due later in the year.

Wiley – Wickedest MC Alive

As Wiley launches a new label Chasing The Art, he celebrates this by promising to drop a track per week for eight weeks which will be a project  titled #8. Kicking this off he started with “Wickedest MC Alive” which is self-produced and premiered by Annie Mac on the radio. Released on Sunday 7 June, with the follow up single “25 MC’s” dropping the following Sunday on “June 14th. This track resonates with his early 2000 material giving it a nostalgic feel.

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week @DizzeeRascal @OfficialGiggs @SectionBoyz1 @SwayUK @Sneakbo @DevlinOfficial @Skepta

Dizzee Rascal ft Giggs – Nutcrakerz

I first heard this track on Charlie Sloth’s show last month and instantly thought what a banger! Dizzee Rascal teams up with UK raps finest Giggs for this Heavytrackerz produced single sampling the famous Tchaikovsky classical ballet song from the Nutcracker. Heavytrackerz have done a fantastic job turning it into a heavy grimey track. Giggs and Dizzee of course bring us a lyrical madness that these two flow masters are accomplished in, talking about the past.

AR15 Presents Section Boyz – Trapping Aint Dead

Alwayz Recording have released the news of their forthcoming epic mixtape by of dropping the first track from there from Section Boyz titled’ Trapping Ain’t Dead’ produced by Nana Rouges. Section Boyz are one of the most talked about, up and coming crews right now and kick off the ‘Concrete Jungle’ mixtape with this catchy track. The mixtape will feature UK rappers such as Skepta, Wretch 32, Ratlin, Sneakbo, Ghetts, Youngs Teflons, Stormzy, Tempa Tand more.

Sway – Stream It

Sway has been on a hiatus for a little while touring with Example and developing the careers of others such as Tigger Da Author. Now he is back with a brand new album to be released in June. ‘Stream It’ is the first single to be heard from the album featuring Afrobeats star Mista Silva; the follow up to ‘Upload’ and ‘Download’, showing Sway at his lyrical best and looking at the effect of instant music.

Sneakbo ft Grizzy, S-Wavey & M Darg– Look Like You

My favourite mixtape of the moment is Sneakbo’s ‘Jetski Wave 2’ and ‘Look Like You’ ft Grizzy, S-Wavey and M Darg is the new video Bo has released from there. This man literally does not stop working and this hard, street track shows Sneakbo at his finest.

Devlin ft Skepta – 50 Grand

Devlin is back after a hiatus as well from the music scene and comes back with a bang. With Skepta featuring on brand new single ’50 Grand’ these make a firing combination. Both Grime dons’ together can only mean something explosive. Devlin has also announced his fourth studio album due later in 2015. Riches is the theme, I’m going to say no more, just get listening.

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week (@Skepta) (@Footsie) (@Sneakbo) (@ArdAdz) (@ShoShallow) (@_BushObama )

From last week here are the 5 best tracks, which of course includes Skepta’s ‘Shutdown’ and Sneakbo’s mixtape ‘JetSkiWave 2’ with both releases shutting the internet down …

 Skepta – Shutdown

Of course this has to be the biggest track from last week. With pretty much no lead up to it, Skepta premiered his brand new track ‘Shutdown’ on The Fader. His name has the biggest hype around it at the moment, from shows in New York to joining Kanye West on stage with other Grime artists at the Brits, and now reportedly working with Kanye in the studio. This will be on his forthcoming ‘Konnichiwa’ album where we can expect bigger and better music still to come.

Footsie – Straight Loco

Another Grime don is next up and that is Footsie from the Newham Generals, who released this track as a solo one. ‘Straight Loco’ brings a hard, Grime beat produced by G Jones allowing Footsie to flow in his style known to most Grime heads. This is the 2nd release from his forthcoming project, so keep your eyes and ears locked…

Sneakbo – Rap Like Dat ft Grizzy & Frass

So Sneakbo dropped his ‘JetSkiWave 2’ mixtape on Saturday hosted by the veteran US DJ Whoo Kid and setting the internet alight with it also trending on Twitter. This tape saw fans in the likes of Wretch 32, Chip, Krept and more all tweeting it. ‘Rap Like Dat’ video also dropped a few days before from the tape warming up his fans for the full 22 track tape. Watch the video below and download the mixtape by clicking here

Ard Adz & Sho Shallow ft Jaja Soze – Thoughts

Haven’t heard much from Brixton’s Ard Adz & Sho Shallow from a while, but the two rappers return with this one featuring PDC’s Jaja Soze for ‘Thoughts’. This is an emotive, deep track with all three spitting a verse each about the streets in Brixton where they are all from and their life experiences. They all complete each other with their varied deliveries but similar subjects.

Bush ft Benny Banks – Own Path

Bush is a rapper that’s new to my ears. I came across him after the release of his debut mixtape ‘Driven 2 Success’ which dropped on 23rd February. ‘Own Path’ is the 3rd video release from the project and sees him dropping some motivational bars over a melodic beat. Benny Banks drops a hard verse for Bush’s track adding more inspiration to the track. These two make a sick team! Download Bush – Driven 2 Success by clicking here

Skepta (@Skepta) ft Young Lord – It Ain’t Safe [Audio]

ASAP Mob and Boy Better Know are due to go up against each other at this years Red Bull Culture Clash but Skepta and Young Lord show it’s all love and just music waring, not real life as the two from the opposing crews join for this banger It Ain’t Safe with a dirty beat and a new flow from Skepta to make a dark and menacing track that I love already.

Nasir Mazhar x Skepta Collaboration Afterparty [Review]

I headed to the after party to celebrate Nasir Mazhar and Skepta‘s collaborative efforts at Metropolis Strip Club in East London, where models and grime artists awaited and guests such as A$AP Rocky were present…

They say music and fashion go hand in hand and this is the perfect example of that. Grime and fashion in this case, as Nasir Mazhar collaborated with Skepta on a jacket for his collection during London Collection: Mens. Their collaboration was not limited to fashion as they also worked together on the soundtrack, too.

The event was put on by Red Bull Studios, who are committed to bringing together fashion designers and up and coming musicians to create soundtracks for fashion week.

The male models from the show – as well as the dancers – were also wearing Nasir’s contemporary new designs, giving people who weren’t at the show the opportunity to check out the designs.

Nasir is one of the hottest young designers around at the moment, known for his edgy, fashion forward and contemporary streetwear. Skepta is one of grime’s brightest and most talked about artists, so the fusion of these two seems like a completely natural one.

Skepta brought in some other grime stars to perform on the night including Boy Better Know’s Jammer, Newham Generals’ D Double E and Footsie, newcomer and rising star Novelist and on the decks we saw Swindle and Preditah holding it down. These performances were the highlight of the night with everyone’s eyes locked on them.

All in all, it was a good night for the UK fashion and music scene, and was fantastic to see two great talents joining forces to create something tremendous.

Red Bull Catwalk Studio Presents: (@nasirmazharldn) x (@Skepta) [News]

This is looking set to be one of the hottest collaborations in music and fashion this year…unfortunately for us girls it’s only menswear (sigh). UK grime’s hot boy Skepta will be teaming up with one of the most exciting menswears designers, Nasir Mazhar which in a few weeks time Red Bull Catwalk Studio will be unveiling for London Collections: Men.

Bursting onto the scene in 2008, Mazhar cut his cloth first and foremost as a milliner and fast became a recognised name with his signature box peak bully cap. In 2012 he launched his first ready to wear collection for SS13 – a mix of mens and womenswear that he presented as part of New Gen. Mazhar consequently moved onto the official catwalk in SS14 and since then has been touted as one of Britains most exiting exciting young designers from everyone from the likes of Vogue to Dazed & Confused.

SS_140514_Skepta Nasir (sm)-8741

North London rapper Skepta needs little introduction. One of the original founders of the Boy Better Know crew alongside his brother JME, he is widely considered a UK grime veteran who pushed the genre through from the underground to the mainstream.

The collaboration between the two artists is a natural one with Mazhar using music as an inspiration for his work and specifically grime artists as the musicians of choice to provide the soundtracks to his presentations. The pair have recently been in Red Bull Studios creating a unique soundtrack for the show at Victoria House on Tuesday 17th June, which will also see Skepta walk in a jacket designed in collaboration with Nasir.

Through working with Red Bull Catwalk Studio, Mazhar is able to take his vision to a new level and host his dream after party, a full Nasir experience, at the Metropolis strip club in Bethnal Green. Together with Skepta they are curating their ideal line up featuring an all-star line up of artists – stay tuned for more details to come.
