Pixies Tracks Of The Week @MajorB2DAL @Prez_T @pabbywabby @Wretch32 @Stormzy1 @ClubsandSpades1 @mrbennybanks @JoeBlackUK @Young_Spray @officialchip

Milli Major ft Prez T & Paper Pabs– Shut Down The Dance

‘Shut Down The Dance’ is like a hardcore grime rave tune and it will do what it says in the title when played in a rave/club! This is from Bloodline representative’s Milli Major, Prez T & Paper Pabs who are royalty in the Grime scene. This will be on Milli Major’s forthcoming EP ‘Bloods Thicker Than Water’ set for release 31st May and sees the finest talent on it from D Double E to Flirta D and producers such as Rude Kid and True Tiger.

The Stray Doggz ft Wretch 32 & Stormzy – Skank Out

To be honest I’d never heard of this producer duo before I got sent this track through and this is their debut single ‘Skank Out’ featuring two highly respected artists Wretch 32 & Stormzy. With the ‘woofs’ on the hook incorporated into the lyrics and two of the sickest MC’s at the moment on it, this trap led tune can only mean one thing, a straight up banger! It’s aggression and honesty makes me love it even more..

Clubs & Spades – Deal Or No Deal

‘Deal Or No Deal’ is the first track taken from newcomers Clubs & Spades forthcoming EP of the same name. They may be newcomers as a collective, but make no mistake each of them have been in the music game and had great careers in it already. They blend hip hop, punk and funk where the two producers use live instruments along with the MC’s rapping in their Northern accents which creates a unique sound. This track talks real life issues…

Benny Banks & Joe Black – Know Me From (remix)

Covering Stormzy’s hit track ‘Know Me From’, North London’s Benny Banks and Joe Black who have been in the rap game for quite some time now put their spin on it. They tackle the track with such finesse it’s like it was one of their own! They both are slick lyricists so we expect nothing but fire from them. The two have a joint mixtape dropping soon, which will show definitely bring a lot of heat to the music game this summer.

Young Spray ft Wretch 32 & Chip – Proud

North London MC’s Young Spray, Wretch 32 and Chip join together for new track ‘Proud’ which is a introspective track of how they grew up. It’s shows Wretch & Young Spray’s journey as they spit while Chip handles the hook, where they look back at their hard lives growing up, where they are at now and what it took to get there. It’s personable, heartfelt and deep and the kind of rap I like.

Pixie’s Tracks Of The Week (@DeliBricks) (@NewhamGenerals) (@JHusMusic) (@Stormzy1) (@IsaiahDreads)

This week I pick five of my hottest tracks from last week from some old skool G’s to some up and coming MC’s.

Deli Bricks ft Corleone & Snap Capone – Fly Birds

UK underground rap at it’s finest with the first track to be heard from Deli Bricks new forthcoming mixtape ‘Finessin’ which is out 30th March. He’s joined by two hard barrers Corleone and Snap Capone for a street track. All three bring different elements and flows to the track making it one to bang out loud.

Newham Generals – Levels

A heavy, grimey, bassline track that I heard they played with My Nu Leng one of the producers for the track at Fabric on Friday setting the club alight. D Double E & Footsie show why they are Grime’s General’s as they pack the tune full of ad libs and punch lines.

J Hus – No Lie

J Hus has quite a buzz around his name at the moment and I myself named him as one to watch out for this year. His style blends Afrobeats and Rap and is a sound so fresh that people can’t seem to get enough of it. ‘No Lie’ is a pretty catchy track too that I can hear going off in a dance.

Stormzy – Know Me From

Stormzy who is everybody’s favourite MC and is set to cause some serious damage to the UK music scene. He returns with his debut single ‘Know Me From’ produced by Z Dot and featuring his mum in the video. He is just sick, no more needs to be said.

Isaiah Dreads ft C4 – Foolish

This upcoming, one to watch fresh Grime MC by the name of Isaiah Dreads is going to be a problem. At just 17-years old and from Dorset he brings something new to the Grime scene, his journey and lyrics. ‘Wait For Me’ produced by Preditah is a bouncy, go follow your dreams kind of track. He shows off his exceptional flow here too.

Lady Lykez (@LadyLykez) – Nobody Can [Audio + Music Video]

The scene definitely needed a shake up and Lady Lykez has certainly caused a commotion with Nobody Can a track about being boxed in as a ‘female’ MC category and taking shots at males in the scene saying she can do what they can and do it better from Wretch 32 to Stormzy, P Money, Big Narstie and more. I hope one of them are brave enough to speak up…

.@Stormzy1 Comes In 3rd On The BBC’s Sound Of 2015 List: I Name His Top Moments In 2014

Today Stormzy was named 3rd on the BBC’s Sound Of 2015 List which shows emerging artists for the year. This accomplishment is something the Croydon rapper should be proud of, it’s definitely no small feat and means he has been widely acknowledged by industry experts as well as by the public.

MOBO Awards - Winners Room

He spoke on it to the BBC saying: “That’s a bit of an overachievement for me, I can’t lie. Especially being an unsigned act and an MC, it’s overwhelming”

Adding on being unsigned “I’m at that period now where people are showing an interest, but nothing’s happened. I’m focused on the music. All the politics and that, I don’t pay attention to. But there’s a lot of interest. People overestimate how big it is to sign or not to sign. Don’t get me twisted, it’s probably one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make in your life – but in terms of focusing on being signed or not being signed, that’s not a good space to be in.”

I look at some of his biggest accomplishments in 2014

Performing On Jools Holland

This was huge news and one that most people fans or not, music industry or not when realising that Stormzy was a an unsigned,up and coming rapper had made it to perform live on one of the biggest music shows in the UK. This shows his already powerful and expanding status in music.

Releasing ‘Dreamer’s Disease’ EP

This was Stormzy’s first body of work to be released on iTunes and boy was it a goodun. It went in at No.1 on the iTunes Hip Hop/Rap chart and showed the haters that the South London MC was here to stay. 7 tracks deep with the hit ‘Not That Deep’ on it, it showcased the lyrical fury and ability of the fast rising talent.

Winning A MOBO

Stormzy beat nominees such as Skepta, JME, Lethal Bizzle, Wiley and more to the post this year to be crowned Best Grime Act of 2014 in his hometown of London.

This is just the beginning for him!

Youngs Teflon (@YoungsTeflon) Live At Barfly Camden [Review]

Youngs Teflon held his first headline show on Monday (September 1) at Barfly in Camden where he performed tracks from his recently released mixtape ‘The Renaissance’ with a live band. The Wrap Up’s Shireen Fenner headed down there to watch Tefs and all of his special guests for this live night featuring some of the best UK rap had to offer.

Teflon hit the stage accompanied by just Docta Cosmic on the decks, with his special guests joining him afterwards. Released in March, ‘The Renaissance’ went to No.1 in the iTunes hip-hop chart and No.22 in the overall national album charts, proving the strength of homegrown music in the UK.

Tefs performed the ‘My Pattern Intro’ from the mixtape and a track called ‘Never Failed School’ produced by Carns Hill which was a kind of middle finger to his school and teachers who thought he would fail; we discovered that ultimately he had done very well and received 2 A*’s for his English GCSEs. ‘Survivor’s Story’ and ‘Django’ got really good crowd reaction and it seemed everyone in the crowd were true supporters, knowing every lyric of every song. One thing was clear, Youngs Teflon was not disappointing any of his fans tonight.

One of the highlights for a lot of people was seeing Blade Brown and Corleone join Youngs Teflon for their collaborative track ‘Trap God’ which got everyone buzzing and Donae’o getting up on stage for their recent track ‘Oi Mate’ which set the internet alight – most people knew these two tracks word for word. Bonkaz, Stormzy and Swift also performed their cover of Krept & Konan’s ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ with the crowd getting more and more energetic with Stormzy also performing his HeavyTrackerz – produced song ‘Not That Deep’.

I loved how Docta Cosmic started mixing grime beats such as Rebound X’s ‘Rhythm N Gash’ into some of the tracks with Youngs Teflon and a lot of his guests, including Section Boyz on the stage in the middle of the show and them all spitting together, and then completely switching it over to grime. This was one of the most creative shows musically I’ve been to in a while and I hope to see more shows like this in the future.

Stormzy (@Stormzy1) – Not That Deep [Music Video]

Stormzy is one that I’ve been saying is one to watch for a while now and the heat is definitely on him at the moment after the release of his very highly anticipated EP Dreamers Disease. This is the 2nd visual to be released from there Not That Deep produced by Heavytrackerz.
